I visited the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington DC a little more than a year ago and saw some really creative ceramics with leather incorporated into the composition among related, sculptural works. It did make a spontaneous and lasting impression that led me to recognize and purchase a wonderful and unusual work by the same hand found in an antiques and collectibles market.

The Royal Worcester figurine of Sunday's child is 7 1/4" tall. The base is 2 1/2" in diameter. She is missing the item in her hand. Otherwise she is perfect.

This McCoy fruit wall pocket is 7 3/4" x 6 3/4". This is circa early 1950s. There are no chips, no cracks, and no repairs to this item. It has the usual McCoy crazing and the obvious paint loss which I believe adds character and looks very real as if it were in a tree.

This is beautiful piece that can be used as a candlestick holder or a small vase. It has a lovely Scandinavian, flowing design. Made of sterling silver, it stands 5 1/8" tall. Its base has a diameter of 3". It weighs 3 ounces. The base is marked with a whale hallmark and marked DENMARK. I have left it unpolished. It is truly beautiful and in excellent condition.

Vintage Fiesta Bulb Candle Holders in original Ivory Glaze were made from 1936-1944. Designed by Homer Laughlin. This pair is in excellent condition. They are about 3.5" high

This porcelain bowl was produced in Germany by Meissen before 1970. It is 8 3/4 inches by 8 3/4 inches and 2 3/4 inches deep. The porcelain is the finest quality you will find. It is decorated with traditional Chinese motifs. There is a pair of fighting roosters in the center of the bowl. Ornate dragons and Chinese symbols decorate the borders. These are all superbly hand painted and amply gilded. There is heavy gold trim on the rim...

This item is hallmarked "USA". It is in excellent condition. There are no chips, no cracks, and no repairs to this item. Circa 1950.

American Lenox Porcelain gold band Coffee Pot, retailed by "Tiffany & Co." 11" high include top, 7" wide include handle and spout, 1930, top rim is decorated interesting etched gold lines. Marked with green "Lenox, Tiffany & Co.", and "X 1367/F51" in gold on the bottom. The condition is good, no damages.

A drop shaped small dish, three-legged and with painted decoration of a Camargue pony horse. Provence, France, possibly Vallauris, 1950's and signed GG. Width "6½/ 16,5 cm, height "1/ 2,5 cm. Condition: fine.

Here is a vintage (probably 1940s-50s) advertisement for an exhibition of Gustavsberg ceramics (Kage, Lindberg, Friberg) at the New York location of George Jensen on 53rd Street. Illustrated is an excellent example of Stig Lindberg's faience series. It measures 5" (12.5cm) by 5 3/8" (14cm). Mint condition.

German Rudolstadt porcelain Potpourri Jar with inner top with holes under the top cover, 7 1/4" high, 5 1/2" wide, made by "New York & Rudolstadt Pottery" before 1920 with large pink and baby blue transfer floral design highlighted in brilliant gold on semi dull finish glaze, gold finish is worn on the round knob, and swirling wave pattern on the body. Glaze hairline across the top cover but did not go down all the way.

Large charger by Val M. Cushing (USA, New York, 1931-2013), from his "shard series". Circa 1970-1980. 18" in diameter. Signed. Cushing was professor of ceramics at Alfred University. His works are in the collections of the Brooklyn Museum, the Smithsonian, the National Design Museum, the Everson Museum to just name a few.

This Staffordshire standing greyhound and hare figurine is 11 1/2" tall. The base is 3 1/4" deep and 9 1/2" long. There are no crack , no chips, and no repairs to this item. This item only has one scratch on his back. This item is circa 1860.

A classic Art Deco porcelain water jug advertising Ricard Anisette. In the south of France, tradition dictates that Ricard and other anise-flavored spirits be drunk with a side of water. Makers such as Ricard and Pernod provided advertising pitchers to local bars to increase their sales. This globe form is the classic shape from the first half of the 20th century. The bottom is marked "Ateliers de Céramique Ricard/Made In France".

Two stoneware tiles from the “Fritte” range, designed by Aldo Londi and produced by Bitossi in the 1950s for Illums Bolighus, famous design department store in Copenhagen. Impressed fish motif with fused glass – Italian “fritte” – one in Rimini Blu, the other a light olive green. Aldo Londi was the artistic leader of Bitossi. Both tiles marked Illums Bolighus and 715 B (one) and 724A (the other)...

Mid Century sterling silver teething ring with a large amber bead that moves. Marked on the inside "STERLING", it is in excellent condition. At its widest point, the silver teething ring measures 3.5" (8.9 cm). The very large natural amber bead measures 1.5" (3.8 cm) wide and 1" (2.5 cm) high. A child's name is hand engraved on one side and can be easily buffed out by your jeweler. We will polish before shipping if requested.

This porcelain vase was produced in France by Thauraud Limoges in the 1920s. It is 6 inches tall and is 6 inches in diameter. The porcelain has a molded pattern in the porcelain, giving it texture. The ground color blends from cobalt blue to light blue. There is a floral decoration, accented with gilding, which follows the molded design. It gives the vase a pate sur pate feel. The flowers are stylized in the art deco fashion. Condition: Excellent

Teapot, milk jug, cup and saucer, a solitaire service made by the Carl Knoll factory in Czech Carlsbad / Karlovy Vary. Cross-striped like the Victorian bathing-suits – just a coincidence or might there be a thought behind this design? Carlsbad was a fashionable 19th century spa, famous for its hot springs. Impressed mark for 1848 – 1868. Height of teapot "4 ½ / 11 cm including handle, diameter of saucer "5 ½ / 14 cm. Condition: a nick to the cup (cf. pics).

A happily little soul evidently getting much pleasure from the clashing together two metal pot lids. She kneels with her feel tucked under, and her "cymbals" are held on high for maximum effect. Her cheeks are dimpled, her eyes are blue, and she wears a close-fitting brown bonnet, held in place under her chin by a huge pink-brown bow; her curled light brown hair can be seen at her forehead and cheeks...

This Royal Doulton plate is 10 1/4" in diameter. This plate is crazed. If you have the patience all of the crazing will come out. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs to this item.

Here is an exceptional and massive vase by Anna-Lisa Thomson for Upsala-Ekeby. It measures 14 1/2" tall. Marked with the artist's initials on the underside. Mint condition.

Seven(7) large Lenox Porcelain Cream Soup Inserts, 1 7/8" high, 5 1/8" dia.-top rim, 2 1/2" dia. for bottom rim 4" dia.-just under the wide rim, with gold rim border, and green mark on the bottom. The condition is good, no damages, and sell $20.00 for each piece.

This porcelain miniature tureen was produced in Hungary by Herend in 1976. It is a commemorative piece celebrating 150 years of production by Herend. It measures 5 1/4 inches across the handles and is 3 3/4 inches high. It is made of fine, hard paste porcelain. The piece is decorated with garlands of stylized corn flowers and foliage. There are blue ribbons and the finial on the lid is a lemon. Condition: Excellent

Here is an adorable bear sculpture by Knud Kuhn for Royal Copenhagen, Denmark. It measures 3 1/8" high. On the underside is painted three wavy lines, Denmark, and 2/433, stating this was number 2 out of a run 433 pieces. Incised is number 12.

English Staffordshire small Copper Luster Porcelain Creamer, 2 1/8" high, 2 3/4" wide with handle included, and Maple leaf design in copper luster color, stamped "Ters Hanley, England" in green and impressed marks, and pearl luster glaze inside around the rim. The condition is good, no damage.

This really pretty Dresden Duchess 7 Inch Salad Plate was made by Harker China. This Plate is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or scratches. The decoration and gold trim is all very good. This pattern was product of Harry W. Rhead, and was Roseville's first major success.It has a band cherubs in a wide variety of scenes separated by trees on a light brown background. Several rows of white piping are used to emphasize the rim, base and the band of cherubs. unmarked!

I've seen this piece as high as $295.00.

A French Vallauris dish by Cerenne, with black, silky glaze. Decoration in bright enamels of a gardener with his tools and flower pots.The back with impressed Vallauris mark and painted MC (painters signature) and Cerenne Vallauris. Cerenne (=CRN) was the signature used by one of the largest ceramic workshops in Vallauris, led by Charles René Roger Neveux. Diameter "8¾/ 22,5 cm. Condition: small rubbing to the glaze just outside the right flower.

In fine condition this figurine measures 4.5" x 3.25". No box.Incised marks along with the Lladro imprinted logo.

This pair of porcelain plates was produced in England by Royal Worcester in 1925. The date code indicates this year. The floral painting is signed by E. Phillips. The plates were produced especially for the retailer Ovington Brothers in New York. These plates measure 10 1/2 inches in diameter. They have a two inch crimson red border that is overlaid with elaborate raised gilding. Brilliantly colored flowers fill the centers of each plate...

Faience pitcher by Aegitna in Vallauris, France. Aegitna or Saltamacchia was one of the first ceramic workshops established in the village of Vallauris near Cannes and the Mediterranean. Vallauris was to become the most famous center in postwar Europe for the renewal of ceramic art, and many modernist ceramists like Picasso settled there to work...

This is an unusual Chinese porcelain Famille Rose covered cup made for the European market, with gilded rope twist handles; late 18th century. Condition: chip inside rim of cup. Measurement: 5"h x 5" dia.

I am not a specialist in pottery and ceramics but am offering here a drinking mug, circa mid century, by noted California pottery master SASCHA BRASTOFF (1918-1993). This mug measures 5" high and about 4 1/2" from handle edge to opposite edge of the mug. It is signed "SaschaB" at the top edge. An impressive Art Déco period ceramic mantel clock set, marble glazed. From the 1920’s, French or Belgian, unmarked. Width of centre piece " 12 ½ / 32 cm, height of side pieces "6 ½ / 17 cm. Condition: The original clock has never been repaired (works only sporadically) and there are a few rim frits to the back (cf. last picture).

This perfume bottle with stopper was produced in Hungary by Herend in 1976. It has a commemorative mark for the 150th year of the company’s existence. The bottle is 7 1/2 inches tall with the stopper. There are two amazing features of this bottle. One is the double walled reticulated porcelain it is made of. Second is the amazing stopper with 5 inch dauber. The front of the bottle has a reserve of Rothchild birds in a tree. The rest of the bottle is entirely covered by the swirling flow...

This porcelain figurine was produced in Denmark by Dahl Jensen before 1970. It has a model number 1005 on the base. It is 5 1/2 inches long, 3 inches wide and 2 3/4 inches high. The kitty is modeled in reclining pose. He has a little twitch in his tail as if he were just awakening from a nap. Now it’s time for a game or maybe a snack. He is hand painted with the most beautiful cat eyes. Condition: Excellent, first quality.
