A terrific pair of Art Deco sterling silver tension-hinged sugar tongs or “nips” by W. & S. Sorensen. The twisted upper handles are decorated with gilt crown-shaped finials and the tong ends repeat the twisted pattern of the upper handles. The tongs could be used for sugar cubes, candies, or even olives. Hallmarked by Sorensen. The tongs are very well made and are quite heavy.

Origin: Denmark, ca. 1930. Condition: excellent, all original, traces of original gilding intact...

A nice bronze trumpet vase by Carl Sorensen. The surface is patinated in a mottled green, and the lower part of the vase is enhanced with parallel bands of various widths. A matching band appears around the outer top rim. Sorensen made a variety of decorative metalwares, but little is known about him. He worked in Pennsylvania, and his pieces were possibly sold by Roycroft and Tiffany. The base is signed “Carl Sorensen” and also has his hallmark.

George V covered urn. Made by Lionel Alfred Crichton in London in 1930. Girdled urn on stepped, raised, and gadrooned foot; s-scroll side handles with leaf cap and pendant flower heads. Cover domed with gadrooned rim and finial. Cutout strapwork applied to bowl and cover. Traditional Classical form in Britannia (that is, 958) silver. Fully marked. Very good condition.

Pair of Edwardian sterling silver creamer and sugar. Made by S. Kirk & Son Inc. in Baltimore. Ovoid bodies and high looping handles. Creamer has helmet mouth and sugar has raised cover and finial. Frond and flower repousse; at bottom leaf and scallop shell border. Fully marked including maker’s stamp (1925-32), no. 74, and phrase “Hand Decorated”. Very good condition.

Early vintage rosewood & sterling silver dish or ashtray designed & signed c. 1930's by American & Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling (1900-67). The piece measures 3 1/4" across and 1 1/2" high. The hand carved octangular wood holder is inset with a hand hammered 980 sterling silver liner. Signed twice - WS TAXCO 980 on the silver, also WS TAXCO branded into the underside of the wood. Spratling always branded his wood furniture and objects. Beautiful condition...

Designed by Georg Nilsson and produced by the big Dutch cutlery manufacturer Gero in the Danish factory they had purchased in 1922 and where GN (trained by Georg Jensen) was the chief designer. A set of six sterling silver coffee spoons by Asprey & Co. Each spoon has a brownish-black bakelite “coffee bean”—a decorative device popular in England during the Art Deco period. Each spoon is fully hallmarked for Asprey, 1931. The spoons are presented in their original silk- and velvet-lined fitted box, the lid of which is imprinted “Asprey/166 Bond St/London”.
