This Royal Copenhagen Christmas plates is called "Waiting for Christmas". It was designed by Kaj Lange. It is the continuation of the story told by the three previous plates.

This plate depicts the lull, full of anticipation, before the family festivities- which in Denmark begin on Christmas eve- start.

The hustle and bustle of busy preparation is over. For the Children there is nothing left to do but wait...

This item is circa 1981. It is Fenton # 5100. It is in excellent condition.

Tiffin made Twilight for many, many years. It does change color -- icey blue in fluorescent lighting, pastel lavendar in sunlight or incandescent (the old light bulbs). This compote is made from Duncan & Miller's Canterbury mold. Made in the 1960-70's. It is in mint condition and stands 5.25" tall and about 7" at its widest. A work of studio pottery, found in Southern California, the color a rich earthy brown, the vessel pierced intentionally by the artist to create naturalistic openings, similar to the distinctive style of Peter Voulkos (1924-2002). The piece measures 7 1/2" high by 5" diameter. The piece is signed on the bottom "Balvin 79". Surprisingly I do not see a studio potter by this name, but the artist was obviously talented and also familiar with Voulkos' acclaimed work.

This Fenton three piece ginger jar is Fenton # 7288. This is the most popular of Fenton's scenic decorations. This item was made circa 1978. There are no cracks, no chips, and no repairs to any of the three pieces. This item is in excellent condition.

This covered dish was produced in Hungary by Herend between 1950 and 1970. It measures 4 inches long, 3 1/2 inches wide and 3 1/2 inches high. The porcelain is finely pierced or reticulated. The handle and roses on the lid are applied. The dish is hand painted in brilliant colors and amply gilded. It would be used as a pot-pourri dispenser. It is a lovely accent piece of delicate quality. Condition: Excellent

Beautiful lobed Kutani yaki dish in Yoshidaya style, modern. Decoration of camellia in white, aubergine, green, speckled yellow and gilt. The back with a character in gilt, possibly Qiu, meaning Autumn. It is also defined by Graesse in his classical work about pottery and porcelain marks as from the village of Shinomine in Arita. Decoy of a Canada Goose, dimensions roughly 28" by 9" by 8", weight 8 1/2 pounds, unsigned. I am not able to attribute this to any particular carver. As an art dealer I cannot claim to be a specialist in duck and goose decoys, but I think this has some age, circa mid 20th century. There is convincing wear, and a deep split in the wood along the left side, as if from the wood drying over time. A fine piece of folk art for the home. Came from a high end Beverly Hills estate.

Classical urn vase by Herend. The porcelain factory in Herend, Hungary, was founded in the 1820's and is still working. The urn is the raspberry red version of their Chinese Bouquet pattern, the mark indicates a date before 1980. No lid. Height "8¾/ 22,5 cm. Condition: fine.

These four Minton Gold Ancestral dessert plates (#S 595) are quite handsome indeed. Each are marked on the back and also each has the Minton imprint. The brown-red transfer decoration of flowers and leaves is painted with turquoise and pink enamel to accent the flowers. Each plate is trimmed in gold and is in excellent condition. Measures 7 7/8" across the scalloped rim. Production dates: 1944-1976. Book price $45.00 a plate.

A hand-carved wood statuette of a man, approximately 11" high, 3" wide, the wood possible oak but not definitively determined. The creator did not sign the piece. Age is also unknown though mid 20th century is likely. Could be American or maybe European.

Fenton Cranberry Diamond Dot Vase is in mint condition. Measures 5.5" tall and is about 6" at the widest.

A lovely Christmas bouquet paperweight by Perthshire. The weight features a colorful bouquet of holly leaves, a red poinsettia and mistletoe surrounded by ring of red, white and green complex canes, all against an opaque snow white ground. The base is embedded with a signature/date cane. The paperweight is finished with 5/1 faceting.

Origin: Scotland, 1996. Condition: excellent, no roughnesses. Dimensions: 3" diameter; 2" high.

Superb large modern glass mold blown vessel with iridescent scavo textured surface. One of my Venetian colleagues, a dealer in 20th century Murano Glass identified this awesome vessel as the design of Ermanno Nason for Cenedese and valued it at 1000euro. The vessel is in excellent condition and measures 10.5"x10.5"x10"

Large charger by Val M. Cushing (USA, New York, 1931-2013), from his "shard series". Circa 1970-1980. 18" in diameter. Signed. Cushing was professor of ceramics at Alfred University. His works are in the collections of the Brooklyn Museum, the Smithsonian, the National Design Museum, the Everson Museum to just name a few.

A large, beautiful, Tiffany style lamp. The lamp is 34 inches (87 cm) tall (to the top of the finial). The shade itself is 19 1/2 inches (50 cm) wide and 8 1/2 inches high (10 inches tall to the metal-top). The contemporary lamp takes three bulbs on the upper sockets and one bulb in the lower, inside-body socket. The lamp is in good condition.
