Sigi is short for Sigfredo Pineda, who set up his own workshop in the 1950's and is still producing modernist jewelry. He apprenticed under Castillo, not William Spratling as he was born somewhat later, in 1929. He is the sole surviving member of the Taxco silversmith artist colony startedby William Spratling in the 30's and 40's.
We love the clean and modern design of these wonderful coiled cufflinks...
Bold and avant-garde, these silver cufflinks were set by hand with onyx and silver and with their classic rectangle on rectangle design, look like they might have been made today, and not 7 decades ago. Perfect for the office or a any occasion, our cufflinks are hallmarked and attributed to Antonio Pineda, an internationally renowned Mexican silversmith and jewelry artist who plied his trade in Taxco, Mexico...
Here is a superb example of Wilhelm Kage's celebrated Argenta series produced for Gustavsberg, Sweden. All the silver decoration is completely intact, which is rare for a piece created in 1949. See photo for markings. Perfect in every way.
Cute pair of open backed peridot and pearl earrings, with 6 pearls (incluidng one at the center) and 5 peridots in a radial design, creating the look of a forget me not. In Marc Heiremans' book ARCHIMEDE SEGUSO this "a canne ritorte" design is documented on page 82. The execution and finish of this fazzoletto confirm the Murano Artisans' mastery of working with Glass and would be a fine addition to any serious collection of 20th Century Murano Glass. The pontil mark on the bottom has been carved out and polished, indicating careful attention to details. The piece measures 4 1/2"H x 6" D. Condition is perfect.
Flavio Poli designed 5 variations of this fine example of Modern Design for Seguso Vetri D'Arte in the 1930's. Marc Heiremans' "SEGUSO VETRI D'ARTE" documents this sculptural bowl form: Model #3434, P. 85. This beauty is done in the "pesco oro" technique, with gold foil embedded to enhance the richness of the material. Thick sculpted glass to the exterior produces a modernist form which beautifully catches light. It measures 2 1/4"H, 6"D and is in excellent condition.
