A nice vintage leather box embossed “Studs” on the top. Most of these boxes are round, but this example is a much more uncommon horseshoe, the lid also embossed with a horseshoe. These boxes were original intended to store shirt studs or cufflinks, but can be used for any variety of gentleman’s accessories.

A very handsome Art Deco champagne and cocktail stirrer set of imposing size. Each stirrer has a torpedo-shaped finial complete with fins. The stirrers would be inserted with finial down for aerating a glass of champagne or with the thin end down for stirring a cocktail. The underside of the base is stamped the hallmark of B. Borhmann, a silverplate manufacturer in Frankfurt Germany until the mid-1920s...

An antique Japanese Meiji period solid silver picture frame circa 1880-1900. This antique 5-1/2" x 3-1/2" frame has a bamboo pattern with a patterned ground; it has a textured snakeskin design paper over wood backing that originally had a support foot for standing up the frame. That is now missing and replaced with a wire so it can be hung on the wall. The frame front has copper round-head nails. It retains the original patterned backing paper and glass window...

Old Counsellor cigar box, altered by hand, painted black, fitted with red felt interior compartments to hold jewelry, the lid carved and painted in a Deco design. The box measures 8 3/4" by 6 1/4" by 2 3/4". On the bottom one can see under the paint the original incised declarations of authenticity of the cigars, including notary public seal from Ulster County, New York, and other information that is difficult to decipher...

A nice mid-century modern French cocktail pick set featuring a blonde wood stylized snail with a chrome shell. He's perched on a set of chrome leaves that hold the six chrome and plastic-topped cocktail picks. Cocktail pick holders ("porte-piques") were once a fixture of every French bar and café. A rare carved bone abacus with integral reverse glass painting depicting four boys, in a garden setting, peering into a large fish bowl. There is an added inscritpion carved into one side recording that this item was given as a gift in Hong Kong in 1953. A carved horn cocktail pick set in the form of a flying bird that looks rather like an albatross. The bird has inset glass eyes. The natural coloring of the horn is used to good effect in the bird’s wing and tail feathers. The set is completed with a holder containing ten cocktail picks with horn finials. Cocktail pick holders (“porte-piques”) were once a fixture on the bar of every café in France and were sometimes used in the home as well. Horn sets were popular in the 1950s...

Pair of decorative leather bound bookends with brass accents. Silver tone metal mounts of a Griffon accent the brass; gold tone stitching accents the rich brown leather. Bears logo of Mark Cross in gold on the bottom of each piece. The bookends measure 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) tall, 5.5 inches (14 cm) deep and 6.25 inches (15.9 cm) wide. Some scuffs and marks from use, but no rips or tears to the leather, nor dents to the metal. Circa 1960.
