Kogin-sashi is one kind of needlework (sashiko), stitches with white cotton yarn go horizontally and make geometrical patterns. Chinese blanc de chine porcelain figure of the bodhisattva of compassion Quan Yin. She is sculpted lounging against an armrest with a lion's face. One of her delicate hands is emerged out from her robes, clutching a sutra scroll. The bodhisattva is easily identified by her large ear lobes and protruding third eye, attributes of an immortal being. Her backside is signed with a chop and a gourd shaped signature.
