This is an Uzbek embroidered cloth from northern Afghanistan. The motifs and colors are typical of the embroideries of Tajikistan and southern Uzbekistan (Sukhandarya). Cross stitch and satin stitch in pink, green, yellow and blue yellow silk thread. This textile was probably made for a dowry. It measures 29.5 x 30 cm. Condition: Excellent, no fraying, no stains, no odors. Estimated age: mid or late 20th century.

This nice horn carving of a vase (or cup) is 4 5/8” high, 2 ¾” wide and 1 ¾” thick. It depicts the theme of “Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove”, Chinese name Zhu Lin Qi Xian (竹 林 七 贤). As is traditionally depicted, the group of seven scholars, musicians and sages wished to escape the intrigues, corruption and stifling atmosphere of the court life during the political chaos of the Three Kingdoms period (220 AD~265 AD)...

This Chinese hair comb was hand carved from a beautifully "grained" translucent animal horn. Obtained from an ethnic minority person, the pair of ducks carved into the handle were commonly used by mainstream Han Chinese as a symbol of a long and happy marriage. Gorgeous vintage pottery replica of a sui dynasty tomb horse. Horse has a commanding and powerful presence as if going off to battle in a fiery. Standing on a rectangular base, with three legs planted, and one slightly lifted, giving motion and life to the piece. This beautiful textile was made by Pashtun nomadic tribeswomen of Hazarajat. It measures 52 x 65 cm without the fringes (57 x 71 cm including the fringes). Shisha (mirrors) illuminate the textile and are fastened by buttonhole stitches, surrounded by volute designs worked in a very fine ladder stitch in silk thread on a dark purple silk background.
