Early vintage Chinese bracelet with a pale green carved chalcedony centerpiece knotted to three strands of cobalt blue Chinese Peking glass beads. The beads and centerpiece are strung with matching blue thread with what appear to be the original Chinese knots. PLEASE NOTE: This piece has possibly been shortened or altered from its original form, since in the middle, the strands are sewn together by the knots, with blue thread. The strands are therefore not continuously hand knotted together...
Noh theater wood mask representing the character of Shakumi, a middle-aged woman. The loose strands of hair give her the careworn air of one who has suffered and survived countless trials. Note the slight sag to her cheeks and the creases on either side of her mouth. She often appears in the role of a mother. Japan, early 20th century. Height: 21 cm. The mask is nicely mounted on a custom stand. A few signs of use, otherwise very good condition.

Very long antique Chinese necklace with Baltic amber beads, some carved, in dark butterscotch and cognac colors. Guaranteed genuine natural amber. The beads are mostly opaque. The color is dark orange to dark cognac. Smooth round beads are spaced with larger carved beads along the strand, which is hand knotted, with a goldtone filigree clasp. This piece has probably been restrung with the newer clasp in the last 20 or 30 years. The beads are early 20th century, probably originally prayer beads...

A waka poem in underglaze blue brushed by female artist/poet Tomioka Haruko decorates this porcelain Mizusashi by female potter Suwa Sozan II enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The porcelain container is 17.5 cm (7-1/2 inches) tall, 11.5 cm (4-1/2 inches) diameter and in excellent condition. On the base it bears the circular mark of Suwa Sozan II and on the side the verse is singed Haruko 80. From this we can surmise it dates from 1926 when Haruko was 80 by Japanese count...

Chinese Shiwan (Shekwan) pottery model of a Daoist Immortal, holding a fan and seated on a large gourd. The figure resembles Li Tieguai, who ordinarily is depicted with his staff and often carrying a gourd which was believed to contain medicine powerful enough to revive the dead. The figure holds a fan, the main attribute of the immortal Zhongli Quan (Han Zhongli). The fan is believed to have the power to revive the dead. Perhaps the figure is an amalgam of the two immortals...
