A bunch of grapes in slight color under shadowy cool leaves decorate the milky white and sand toned surface of this very unusual plate by Kitaoji Rosanjin enclosed in a wooden box annotated by Living National Treasure Arakawa Toyozo dated 1968. It is 19 cm (7-1/2 inches) diameter and in excellent condition.

Matching pair of oxblood porcelain monochrome vases. Vases have gorgeous red tone with vertical streaks of varying blue, and green white dripping glaze. Inside of vases are white, with residual color dripping into mouths. Beautiful condition, pear shape in form, shorter necks with fluted rims. Lips have a white ring.

Chinese print, made in the 1950s by the National Museum in Taipei, of 16th or 17th century original fan. This print is part of a collection of four volumes each with 10 prints or paintings and fans. The woman is wearing elegant garments that billow in the wind as she stands atop a phoenix whose wings are flapping as they ascend through the clouds together, the sun glowing behind them. The image measures 8" wide. The book measures 15.25" tall 13" wide .5" deep.

This ivory snuff bottle is a mid - 20th century product. It is 2 5/8” high, 1 ¾” wide and 1” thick. One side is a relief carving of Shou Xing (God of Longevity) and his young apprentice. The other side is an etching of bird, flowers and trees. It is in great condition.

This is a wonderful Netsuke Set depicting Kiyohime, the Dragon Witch, holding the Dojoji Bell, right next to her beloved Anchin. According to Japanese legend, Kiyohime the daughter of an innkeeper, fell in love with the pilgrim Anchin, but was rejected by him. The enraged Kiyohime turned herself into a dragon witch who went to the Dojoji temple to look for Anchin who had hidden under a huge bell. Finely carved Japanese Netsuke Depicting a Kappa laying on top of a Shell.
According to Karl Schwartz, in his book 'Netsuke Subjects', Kappa is a Goblin who lived in rivers, having a body resembling a frog with a carapace like a turtle. Its head is similar to that of a Monkey with a cavity on top which must always be filled with water. It is mischievous and is often in love with young girls.
