The Teapot (Number A2412 and 1 3/8 pints) measures 6" high x 10.5" wide and weighs 14.6 Troy ounces. The coffeepot (Number A2411 and 1 3/4 pints) measures 8" high and 10" wide and weighs 17.3 Troy ounces. There is a monogram on each. In excellent condition.

Vintage Japanese woven bamboo ikebana basket with four woven “feet” forming a square on the bottom, squat round body and long neck, excellent for use in tea ceremony or flower arrangement. Superb piece made in Karamono (Chinese, more formal than Japanese) style with shape and execution of the weave in regular rows. Bashofu kimono hand-woven of ito-basho, which is a family of banana tree, for both wefts and warps. The brown stripe yarn and warp kasuri yarn are dyed with Sharinbai, a family of the rose tree. The small weft kasri yarn is dyed with Ryukyu ai, vegetable indigo in Okinawa. Bashofu has been woven in many islands in Okinawa from old days, for everyday kimono or work wear. An exceptionally fine embroidered purse from Katawaz (Ghazni province), Afghanistan, circa early to mid 20th century. The embroidery on this piece is basically metallic embroidery on both sides, with mirror stitching and fine metallic couching. The front side is comprised of Bokhara couching, where the thread is taken across the surface for the desired length, then, bringing the needle back to the beginning, it is caught down at regular intervals by small stitches...

Important mask of the "kiwoyo muyombo" type, of elongated shape, with a protruding forehead and fine features, surmounted by a highly stylized cylindrical coiffe, and a long "beard" decorated in relief with bicolored lozenges and framed by weaved bamboo slices. Fine glossy patina. Africa, Gabon, Pende Peoples. Height: 45 cm. The mask is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Small losses, otherwise very good condition.

A beautiful scene of the gate to Jizo-in Temple in Kyoto as seen through the stand of tall bamboo that grows on either side. No. 14 of 100. Size in frame: 25 1/4" high x 19 1/4" wide.
