This charming covered jar in translucent yellow glass is topped with an opaque yellow pear with green leaf. Made in the 1890s by Salviati. The body of the jar and lid are ribbed and have a lovely iridescence. The bottom of the base has multi-point pontil marks. It stands 6"high by 4" diameter. A similar fruit-topped lid is shown in Carol Osbourne's "Venetian Glass of the 1890s: Salviati at Stanford University" P. 126, Plate 137. The piece is in excellent condition.

Fire lighting implement consisting of a piece of iron, pieces of fabric and a fragment of flint stone, the whole set being contained in a rattan box. This implement belonged formerly to a member of a tribe located in Palawan Island, South West of the Philipino Archipelago. Such tribe, like a few others in this island, has in some aspects remained in the Stone Age. It was put under the protection of the Philipino Government some 40 years ago. This Victorian locket is European in origin. One side has enamel in black and blue, on top of an ornate engraving. The other side is deeply engraved with a different pattern. It measures 1 1/8" long x 3/4" wide. Ca. 1880

9 Chinese carved hardstone animal figures, including 4 elephants, one penguin, a dog, what seems to be a seal or a dog, a bear and a rabbit. All carved from hardstone in different colors. Size: Measurements varies from penguin with the height of 2 3/8 inches the the smallest one, elephant with the height of 1 3/8 inches. Condition Report: All figures are in the good condition with the exception of damage to the Penguin foot and seal's foot.
