Chinese wooden carving of Kwan Yin, the goddess of mercy, riding a dragon. The Kwan Yin is holding a wish granting pearl and a ruyi scepter; both represent the powers of Kwan Yin who is thought to grant wishes and aid sentient beings. A Kamakura-bori red over black lacquer plate with flowering Hibiscus decoration. Inscribed in hiragana on the black lacquered surface inside the foot rim. Good condition with some rubbing to the wood on edges of the lacquered, carved flower decoration. Diameter, 9 3/8 inches (23.8 cm)

This boy's coat resembles the famous green chapan worn by Hamid Karzai, the current President of Afghanistan. These coats are worn in Central Asia including Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, etc. This chapan is woven in silk with a blue cotton shibori inside lining in plain weave, with the inside lapel in brown cotton corduroy. Superb classically-shaped vase with scavo texture and subtle iridescence. The scavo vessel is 11.5" tall and is in excellent condition, unmarked.

A four panel coromandel screen with four porcelain panels set inside the screen surrounded with mother of pearl inlay of various human subjects set within a landscape. Each porcelain panel contains a short inscription describing the scene. The next line contains the date when the panels were painted (summer, year of the earth snake or approx. 1929). The last line contains the signature of the artist, Yu Zhushan, and that the painting is inspired by the style of Yilu Jushi. Age: Republic Period...

Slender and elegant vintage modern glass Nerox lamp by Ermanno Toso is constructed of cool blue and green opalino murrine. The colors remind me of the cool tones of the Venetian Lagoon which has inspired glass design in Murano for centuries. I've seem a pair of this design sell at auction for $9000.! The lamp measures 28.5" to top of glass and 40" to top of bulb socket, is in good condition, and would look great with a slender cylinder shaped shade.

A fine grouping of stylized creatures including a bird, a duck, a guinea hen, a bowl in crystal with gold aventurine. All of the pieces are in excellent condition, confirmed to me personally to be by Archimede Seguso by his son, Giampolo. Two retain their original Archimede Suguso Murano labels.

Fulvio Bianconi designed the fasce verticale series for Venini. This pair is in good condition. The metal parts show the patina of age. An interesting detail regarding this pair is the rod that runs up the center of the lamp, concealing the wire, is covered with a ribbed clear glass tube which adds an attractive element of finish to the lamps. The lamps are 23" to top of glass.

Fenton's Cranberry Opalescent glass is one of their most popular treatments. Because it is cased glass (french crystal over gold ruby) every piece must be blown rather than pressed. This hand-work makes each piece unique. Offered here is the 389 jug in their hobnail pattern. This piece was produced from 1940 to 1948 and stands 5 1/2 inches high. This fine pair of Italian lamps came with a store tag attached to one of the switches that said, "Quackenbush Co. Patterson NJ. This was a local department store that existed from the 1800's to the early 1950's, a fact which provides us a date. The lamps appear to have never been used, in excellent condition and are a nicely matched pair On close inspection one can see that the lamps are hand made , yet nearly identical, pointing to the expertise of the Murano Glass Artisans.

A fine 20th century studio lacquer charger. Persimmon orange-red lacquer with decoration of peony blossoms incised to an under layer of black lacquer in the Kamakura manner (and possibly from one of the ateliers in that town which can still be seen and visited when trekking up the main street to the temples.) Gilt lacquered rim. Black lacquer also singularly exposed inside the foot rim. Good condition with light wear. Diameter 15 1/2 inches (39.37 cm)
