Antique Turkish Ottoman Islamic Dagger Knife Bichaq

A hilt of unusual and rare form, consisted of a "pistol" grip with carved scales, rising to a bulbous pommel in a characteristic Turkish Ottoman style, with a hole for the suspension tassel, bounded by pairs of silver washers, and enclosed by fluted silver straps.

The scabbard of the dagger is made of German - silver with wooden insert and engraved on the exterior with foliage and mounted at the back with shaped brass finial and fitted at the back with hinged brass suspension loop.

CONDITION: Showing the age and usage, blade slightly pitted, crack in the one of the grip scales near the pommel. Please see all 7 pictures in the listing since they are part of the description of the object's condition.

MEASUREMENTS Overall length with the scabbard: 23.5 cm (9.25 inches). Overall length without the scabbard: 21.5 cm (8.46 inches).
