First edition Japanese shin hanga woodblock print titled "Rainy Season at Ryoshimachi, Shinagawa" from the series from the series "Selection of Views of the Tokaido" by Kawase Hasui (1883-1957) dated in the lower right margin February Showa 6 (1931). The artist's black ink signature and red seal are at the lower right corner with the Watanabe "C" seal (used 1929-1942) in the left margin beside it. Paper size: 15 1/4" x 10 1/8" (image size: 14 1/8" x 9 3/8")...

Lifetime edition Japanese shin hanga woodblock print by Shiro Kasamatsu (1898-1991) executed in shades of purple titled "Spring Rain - Yushima Tenjin Shrine" dated 3rd month of Showa 10 (1935). Post-WWII edition bearing the round 6mm Watanabe publisher's seal at the lower right corner. The artist's black ink signature and red seal are at the lower left. Paper: 10 1/2" x 15 1/4" (image: 9 1/2" x 14 1/4")...

Japanese shin hanga woodblock print depicting sailboats under a full moon viewed through a pine branch titled "Full Moon at Akashi Beach" by Tsuchiya Koitsu (1870-1949) dated in the left margin "Showa 9" (1934) with the title above. The black ink signature and red seal of the artist are at the lower right corner of the image. Post World War II edition with the Watanabe 6mm circular seal at the lower left corner. Haku Maki did the months of the year in hiragana, not in Chinese characters which are also used for months in Japan. July しちがつ is an A.P. and measures 13.75in W x 5.75in H. An embossed print, it is in good condition. See August below.

A cocoon shaped basket of tight weave with bamboo insert made for wall hanging by Maeda Chikubosai II enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Kake Kaki (Hanging Flower Receptacle). It is roughly 16 cm (6 plus inches) diameter, 19 cm (7-1/2 inches) tall and is in excellent condition.
Maeda Chikubosai II (1917-2003), was born when his father, Chikubosai I (1872-1950) was already quite mature...

Haku Maki did the months of the year in hiragana, not in Chinese characters also used for months in Japan. August はちがつ was created in 1977 and is number 53 of an edition of 202. It measures 13.75in wide x 5.75in high. It is in excellent condition.

A set of two incense items carved from blocks of dried lacquer, the surfaces polished to reveal the various layers and colors of lacquer used in a mottled pattern. Truly quite spectacular despite their diminutive size, the koro is 10 x 6 x 7.5 cm (4 x 2-1/4 x 3 inches), the kogo is 4 cm (1-1/2 inches) diameter and both are in excellent condition.

Very good overall condition with full margins.

A spiraling form in softly gleaming golden brown by Yajima Boshu enclosed in the original singed wooden box titled simply Jundo Kabin (Pure Bronze Vase)...

Bag made of hand spun and vegetable indigo dye cotton, with beautiful sashiko. The lining cloth is cotton which looks hand spun and has katazome (stencil-resist dye) stripes. The metal clasp works well, which is antique handmade with boat motif. Generally in good condition but has some indigo faded spots and wear in one of the corners in the bottom.
