Very large and impressive brown-glazed Bartmannskrug or Bellarmine Jug, Raeren, Germany c. Late 17th.- early 18th century AD.

The jug with lovely warm brown glaze and a detailed bartmann on the neck and a small ring handle.

A important rare massive size German stoneware pouring jug, Westerwald, ca. 1780-1820 AD.

Jug with cobalt glaze of floral motifs with a birds wing, original pewter lid with no stamps. Fantastic size and very decorative, a must for collectors of early German pottery.

Condition: Superb, noting to remark, unusually nice condition for such a large old Westerwald jug...

This is a beautiful bronze dagger from the Dong Son culture in early Southeast Asia. It dates to the Han period (ca 200 bc). The very fine quillons that are often missing on pieces of this type are present and intact, making this a truly rare and high quality find. It measures 31.5 cm in length and weighs 371 grams. It appears to have a repair to the very tip, which is not uncommon for these daggers.

A rare slope-shouldered bronze bell with stand from the Dong Son culture in Vietnam. At the shoulders and at the base are large curl designs with a bull's head in the center and animals around the bell.

Period: Dong Son Culture - 300-200 BC.

Of the over 10,000 artifacts that the late world famous Dr. Allen Heflin found, this little miniature hand-molded ceramic female figurine ranks among the rarest. It is from the unattributed Preclassic Period, C1200-900BC. It is a mere 1 1/2" long and in superb condition except for a small ding on the front headdress and small dings to both back feet. It still has significant traces of red and white pigment. Heflin found this little treasure in Cuautitlan, Mexico and is so noted on the back...

A rare antique Pre-Columbian Jama-Coaque 300 B.C. - 400 A.D. ceramic amulet in the form of a standing nude male figure with an erect phallus. These types of amulets were associated with the male sex's power and fertility. The object has a hole at the temple for suspension.

CONDITION: It is in good condition, showing its age and wear. No repairs or restorations.

A very attractice pottery bowl with the typical corset / convex shape, Ica / Chincha bowl, pre-columbian, 1000-1476 AD.

Probably made locally under Inca overlordship. The ornamentation of this Ica-Chincha vessel is geometric, and it brings to mind a woven textile pattern and surface.

Ensemble of vintage silver and ancient banded agate beads from Sri Lanka. These were acquired in Kandy in 1998 or 1989, the banded agates are all hand carved and are at least 1000 years old (conservatively). Ancient, Pre-Columbian, Colima culture Protoclassic (100 BC to 250AD) ceramic effigy vessel in the form of a duck with low rounded body, small wings to the sides as if ready for flaying, the short tail at the back and the flaring spout emerging from the center.
CONDITION: as can be seen in this photo, the piece has been broken and re-glued in same places.

This is one of my favorites from the Heflin ceramic collection. It has been broken and glued back together and is missing parts. Dr. Allen Heflin found this piece in Xico, Mexico in 1960 according to his journal. He must have hung it on his wall since he glued a wire to the back. This is a clear representation of a man either emerging or being swallowed by Quetzalcoatl. It is 6" long by 5" wide. The imagery scrams pre-Columbian. It is attributed to the Aztec culture C1300AD.

Rare ancient pre-Columbian Ameca-Ezatlán terracotta sculpture of a standing woman, 300 BC - 300 AD, from Jalisco region, in central-western Mexico.

The ceramic figure is exquisitely crafted and features a female standing with curvaceous proportions. She stands on arched feet with her arms stretched outward. Her broad shoulders and ample breasts give her a commanding presence...

Oval vessel with bow handle between spout and perforated animal head, Vicús, ca. 100 - 500 AD.

Fine condition vessel from the rather illusive Vicus culture contemporary with the more well-known Moche culture. The vessel misses a very small pseudy lug handle at one side, othervise completely intact and unrepaired with some light weathering at edge of the spout.

Pre-Columbian Nayarit male Kokopelli ca. 300 ad, playing a wood rasp drum with a horned helmet, the Kokopelli of the prehistoric southwest was described as a man with a terribly deformed back, bent over playing a flute with magical powers and was able to communicate with the Gods, I believe this is the grandfather of the prehistoric southwest Kokopelli, meaning the legends of the Kokopelli didn't start in the southwest but much further south. Every legend had to start somewhere. No restoration ...
