Antique Japanese small tansu from the Sakata region, with original red lacquer top and sides and black lacquer front. The top drawer's iron lock plate is incised with the image of a flying crane and pine branches; The bottom drawer's lock is incised with an ancient turtle with many tails. This imagery represents good health and longevity. Key is included.

Wonderful distorted shoe shaped (kutsugata) tea bowl made of light, fine, unrefined Mino clay. Shape and style make it appear contemporary with the late Oribe bowls. The expertly thrown body is covered with the typical black oniita engobe inside and outside - with the exception of the bottom - over which a white, feldspatic Shino glaze has been poured.
Just the foot ring and its immediate surrounding was left unglazed...
Antique Japanese lacquer raised tray. Standing on four legs with square frame and decorated all over with scrolling vines and pine bows in maki-e lacquer on a black ground with clouds of gold nashiji. Prominent in the design is the appearance of the aoi mon (crest) of the Tokugawa clan, marking this tray as the property of the ruling Tokugawa Shogunate.

An antique Japanese Edo era Ko Tansu (personal storage chest) made entirely of Kirinoki (Paulownia) wood. All original finish and hand made iron fittings. Made with straight dovetail joinery and hardened wooden nails. Original used to store daily documents, ephemera, small utilitarian accessories and personal items. Present day uses include using it as a small side table or a bedside nightstand.

The dark grey paste makes this dish to a very rare example of an Longquan Guan-type dish. Southern Song Dynasty ( 1127 - 1279 ). The shallow dish with sloping sides, everted rim, and fourteen-lobed mouth rim is covered in a crackle-suffused glaze of sea-green color that thins on the edges. The dark grey stoneware body has turned to a reddish brown color where exposed in the firing.

Wood, with multiple superimposed polychrome pigments, meant to enhance the mask features, of which part is painted on paper glued to the mask. China, early 19th C. Height: 33 cm. An antique Japanese Choba Tansu made entirely of Hinoki (Cypress) wood. All original bronze and iron hardware. Six drawers and a pair of hinged doors that open to a merchant books and records storage area with vertical separators and a removable shelf. Thick wood drawer construction and the Tansu was made using straight dovetail joinery and hardened wooden nails.

This is Indigo dye cotton tsutsugaki furoshiki textile of the Edo era(1800-1867). It is a very beautiful crane and a lucky design of the tortoises.It is a characteristic of tsutsugaki of the Edo era that the ear of the tortoise is expressed like a dragon.
There is a thin stain. There is not damage. It is in a very good state. It is made of hand-spun cotton and natural dyed.

Ceramic figure of a Peyote Shaman, 6" tall, 2,000 years old, from Jalisco, Mexico. He has a decapitated snake in his right hand, a death bubble between his lips, and a peyote-button bowl on his head. He has faced death and returned to serve his people. Peyote is a small psychedelic cactus used in life-altering ceremonies.
This is a rare Wan type chawan, around 400 years old in shape close to a tenmoku tea bowl. It is thrown on a wheel from coarse, unrefined iron bearing clay.
The grey ash glaze has been painted on the body with a straw brush as seen on Korean hakeme chawan. A stone in the wall has exploded in the fire - a very sought after effect ( see pic number 2 ), giving this type of Karatsu bowls its name: ishihaze (exploding stone). This is Shonai Sasiko made in the Edo period. This is an item made by Sashiko craftsmen during the Edo period. And it is a very rare design sashiko. This is the work clothes that a wealthy merchant had as one of his daughter's wedding supplies. The front side is dark indigo dyeing. The back side is a blue color called hanada. There are almost no traces of use and it is in good condition. You can wear it and enjoy it. And you can wash it with water.
