Two hinged doors open to a storage space for books and documents with removable shelves and small drawers below. Constructed using straight dovetail joinery and hardened wooden nails.

An antique Japanese Todana Tansu (storage chest) made of Hinoki (Cypress) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. Two sliding doors open to a spacious storage area. All original bronze hardware. This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in Germany around 1900. Saxe was the name used on products Charles Ahrenfeldt exported from Germany for American retailers. The saucer has a diameter of 4 1/2 inches and the cup is 2 inches high. There is a cartouche on the front of the cup that has hand painted exotic birds. There are rings of cornflowers and bands of gilding. The rims and handle are trimmed with gold. Condition: Excellent

An antique Japanese 2 section Kamidana (Shinto shrine) Tansu made of Keyaki (Zelkova) and Hinoki (Cypress) woods. In 2 sections, The upper section has 4 sliding doors with Shoji style slats and Hoju (religious flaming jewel) that features a mountainous landscape naturally designed by Akita Sugi wood grain. Below this are two sliding doors with Andon (lantern) style slats...

Lobed pewter bowl with an etched scenery of a rocky seascape, Mount Fuji in the background. The surface matted, silvery. Meiji period, c 1900, seal mark to the base. Diameter "6 ¼ / 16 cm. Condition: a black spot to the exterior removed by polishing (cf. pics).

An unusual SET OF FOUR Kiddush cups, each 3 1/2" high, and the tops 2" across. Each is marked .800 at base and also to the left of that is a tiny mark, difficult to photograph. "Kiddush" is a Hebrew word that literally means “sanctification”. It is defined as a blessing recited over grape juice or wine to sanctify the Jewish and Shabbat holidays. Many families have a special goblet or glass for the blessing, and this vessel is called the Kiddush cup...
