Alexandria, VA had a thriving salt-glazed stoneware industry throughout most of the 19th Century. Many pieces are marked with the makers name and "ALEXa" or "DC/ALEXa". Antique 19th century, solid silver fork in Baroque style adorned with Lithuanian heraldic coat of arms Pahonia-Vytis.

This Chinese antique wood carving was possibly part of an architectural structure or possibly from a piece of furniture. The wood is approximately 1.3 inches thick and retains much of the original finish though it is obviously worn in some areas. The tradition carvings of 2 dragons chasing the pearl is very well done. Antique Ottoman Islamic leather wallet, 18th century, Turkey. The wallet is rectangular in shape with a flap opening. Antique from the mid to late 19th century Turkish Ottoman hand blown emerald, green, Beykoz glass, Islamic, small Hookah- Huqqa (Narguile) pipe with a copper stem heart. The upper body with a bulbous shape is finely hand-painted and enameled with flower sprays. The lower part of the body and the base is molded in the form of the star with golden borders. Japanese antique Bugaku theatre mask for Genjoraku dance. The imperial court dance has been performed for over 12 hundred years. During the Edo Period, the dance was performed as part of shrine festivals to celebrate prosperity and peace. This mask is carved of wood with a moveable jaw. This set of 8 porcelain egg cups was produced in Germany by Helena Wolfsohn in the 1890s. They measure 2 1/2 inches high and the base is 3 1/2 inches in diameter. The porcelain is molded with a swirl decoration. There are panels with tiny hand painted flowers on the cup and base. They are outlined with gold. The borders are decorated with gold filigree. A hard to find purple transferware pitcher with central vignettes of farm life and genre scenes. The top and inside of pitcher have foliate decoration. The single piece handle is attached. Condition is very good with minor crazing and possible exterior crack for which we have shown 2 pictures. Very moderate age discoloration most noticeably on handle.

English Spode Blue Transfer deep plate, late 19th century, 9 3/4" diameter, 1 1/2" high, with Italian pattern inside fluted rim and two(2) figures attending cows, imprinted mark "Spode 54" "Spode" in underglaze blue, the condition is good.

A Japanese stoneware sake bottle, tokkuri, probably from the Inuyama kiln in Maruyama, Owari Province.

The kiln is noted for overglaze enameling introduced by Dohei in 1835 and the gourd-shaped bottles decorated with maple leaves are perhaps the best known of all. This example is decorated with coloured branches and Ming dragons set within a frame of red lattice. The body is stoneware covered in a finely crackled clear glaze.
