This is an incredible, extremely rare weapon from the Chu Culture and dates to the Warring States period (circa 400 BC). It is called a Pi and was used as both a spear and a sword (or dagger). This is one of the rarest weapon types from ancient China and you will not likely see another one like it anywhere at any price. Ancient Asian bronze is becoming rarer by the day. An unusual and dramatic firescreen abattant. It reminds me of some of the smaller, New York classical parlor furniture I've seen in Southern house tours with late Federal drawing and music rooms furnished with pieces imported by successful merchants - almost, but not quite, over the top in their design yet direct in their function. So an argument could be made for high, New York city style. And the inlaid oval in the center, with pie crimped edge, is reminiscent of some New England work...

Chinese jade seal with a serpentine chimera coiled around the top. The chimera body is finely and continuously carved with the beast's horns are carved connected to its back and its tail curls around to connect with its front leg. Dates from the Ming dynasty.

Japanese Meiji Period Gosho Ningyo of Jimmu, the First Emperor of Japan. This is a wonderful ningyo, in great bright condition. Every aspect is of the highest quality. He has a gorgeous face, beautifully rendered. He is wearing sumptuous silk brocades, stretched on a carved wood body (kimekomi). He holds a bow and arrows. There are arrows in the quiver at his back, and a sword at his side. He is presented on his original lacquered stand. Height: 8.5 inches, 21.5 cm.

This is an amazing piece of Satsuma from Yozan. The vase stands 5 1/4 inches tall and it is covered with eye straining detail. It is better than the images show and in hand has a jewel like aura. Condition is excellent.

Black-figure lekythos decorated with two heraldic lions looking back over their shoulders. Rosette and dots in the field.
The vase belongs to the Dolphin Group, which is named after the leaping dolphins on the shoulder. Our piece shows the later decoration of large inverted lotus wreaths.

A set of three hanging scroll paintings finely depicted auspicious motifs such as rising sun and old pine tree, jurojin with divine deer and a sacred scroll, as well as a flock of crow rest in the winter old tree that reminds of the zen like scenery. Painted with ink and pigments on silk. Signed Tsunenobu and sealed. It is attributed to Kano Tsunenobu.

A truely spectacular tomb pottery model of a rich court house or mansion, China, Ming Dynasty, 1368-1644 AD.

Rare Chinese hat in silk, silver and gold kesi. Built like a melon with 6 pieces of sewn kesi. The ponpon is original in silk and silver. Excellent quality the points are tight and thick for more strength. The decor is extremely rare, it is made up of assembled cubes. From memory I remember having seen on an imperial porcelain a similar cubic decoration, it was specified that they were stylized dragons...

Large Russian Classical 875 silver bowl, ca 1843. Oval well with engraved armorial and curved and fluted sides with applied scroll and shell armorials (vacant). Rim has applied leaves, scrolls, and scallop shells. Fully marked including Adolf Sper maker’s stamp, St Petersburg city stamp, and Dimitri Tverskoy assay master’s stamp dated 1843.
