Netsuké in wood by Kokeï A rabbit with its small forming netsuké carved in cherry wood by Kokei. There is no the two hole, the himotoshi is naturally formed by a leg. Unlike most netsuké bearing Kokei's signature which are fakes or plagiarisms, this one is from the artist, indeed the quality is excellent. It is a very rare piece from excavation.
Made of the characteristic soapstone 布丁石 or 滑石 of the dated Tang periods, the item was made in shape by imitating the Persian ware which was affluent in that periods.
Two Similar porcelain pieces were found in the famous Idemitsu Museum出光美術館 of Japan and The Asian Art Museum of San Francisco.

He helds both of his hands in a gesture of exposition or teaching (vitarkamudra) that in India is confined to the right hand. He wears multible jewels and a large headdress and especially large earrings. He is standing on a small flat base and professionally mounted on round black wooden plint.

A very large and impressive terracotta figure of Aphrodites.

She is depicted as a beautiful and voluptious deity, completely naked, bending her right knee, thus twisting her body slightly. Her hands are held up holding on to a couple of bands that possibly would have held a textile veil in place. She is wearing a large snake-ring jevellery bracelet on her right thigh.

Her elaborate headdress is in the style of the court, during the Severan period, late 2nd...

A lovely and sizeable terracotta bust on a plint of a muscular young man, Time of Hadrian, ca. mid 2nd. century AD.

A very attractive bust with a wide strong chest and painted facial details in black pigment. His hair is rather long and he is arising from a round plint as was the typical for the Imperial Roman busts. The bust is possible depicting Antinous, Hadrians famous lover.

An antique Japanese Katana Sword box made of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware. Front hinged door secures a long drawer that held a Katana for safe keeping. Of particular interest is the door stop on the lock plate featuring a stylized Fundo weight. This would suggest that the previous owner was in the profession responsible for coin exchange, weights and measures. The box was made using hardened wood nails.

Japanese bamboo brush pot on three feet carved in sunken relief with the head of Zen patriarch Daruma, also known as Bodhidharma, holding a fly-whisk. Fly-whisks were carried by Buddhist priests to wave away flies which, according to Buddhist tenets, they could not kill. The fly-whisk is also a symbol of leadership.
