This carved wood box is lacquered in a deep red tone and in brownish black on the leafy area. The interior and base are lacquered in black. There are various nicks and scuffs from use and age. The interior retains its shiny finish, while the exterior had acquired a soft luster from age and wear. Acquired in Kyoto, Japan in the early 1970s.

Meiji (1868-1912) Period Japanese Silver Maki-e Lacquer Box

It is 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) tall by 3.3 inches (8.6 cm) long and 2.7 inches (7.1 cm) wide. It is 44.5 gram.

This set of 6 cut crystal cordial glasses were produced in Bohemia by Moser in the late 19th century. The glasses measure 3 3/4 inches high and the diameter of the opening is 2 3/4 inches. The glasses are hand cut and have panels of amber glass in panels around the outside. Vermicelli gilding covers the rest of the surface of the glasses. The scalloped foot of each glass is cut with a star. Condition: There is wear to the gilded surfaces from use.

19th century kagamibuta (“mirror lid”) netsuke, its top carved in low relief with a seated boy wearing rich robe decorated with coin pattern and holding a butterfly net in his hand. Wonderful depiction of robe lines, elegantly incised textile decoration. Beautiful patina, swinging metal loop at the back for the cord. Diameter 1 1/4 inches.

This glass bowl and under plate was produced in Bohemia, now the Czech Republic, by the Moser Glass Studio in the 1880s. The under plate measures 7 inches in diameter. The bowl is 4 1/2 inches in diameter and 2 3/4 inches high. It is made of hand blown ruby colored glass with leaded content. The shape and design has an Islamic feel. Vines of clematis are painted with raised enamel you can feel. Borders of white with tiny blue enamel beads accent the borders...

Very unusual 19th century lacquered wood sashi type netsuke carved in a shape of a cloud dragon with its head turned back onto itself, its neck forming himotoshi. Does not photograph well, impressive when handled. Elegant and clever carving, all 4 legs are in different positions, nice rendition of its face and hair. Wood is lacquered in Negoro style - red lacquer over black, so as it wears the black starts showing, gold lacquer highlights, excellent wear and patina on the surface...

19th century metal and wood kagamibuta (mirror lid) netsuke. Patinated bronze top with inlaid and carved design of a Saizo dancer playing tsuzumi (a hand drum) by a pine sapling and with the moon partially obscured by cloud in the background. Saizo dancers are usually attending Manzai dancers during New Year celebrations. Wonderful quality inlays and detailing - see the ropes of the drum and a sword sticking out of his clothes, copper inlays and gilding. Beautiful patina on both metal and wood...

Victorian Classical sterling silver paper knife. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York, ca 1885. Serpentine and integral with hollow handle tapering into flat blade. Handle has allover floral repousse with feathered leaf border at bottom. Blade recto has acid-etched monogram with elongated, interlaced, and whiplash letters. Fully marked including maker’s stamp, director’s letter M (1873-91), and no. 730. Very good condition.

Offered is this exceptionally beautiful, hand-enameled in ruby flashing, glass pokal or covered jar. The jar is 11 inches (28 cm) tall and 4 1/4 inches (10,5 cm) wide and is in excellent condition. It has a 32-point star-cut base. There are a number of raised glass cabochons surrounding the body of the pokal. It fluoresces a gentle-green when subjected to long-wavelength black-light, typical of 19th century glass articles. Unsigned...

A hand-painted Bohemian glass box. The box is 3 1/2 inches (9 cm) wide and 2 1/4 inches (6 cm) high. Good condition.

Antique Tibetan pair of offering bowls. Each bowl is carved of burl wood and has an ornate silver foot decorated with cabochons of coral and turquoise. The silver bottom of each bowl is incised with a scene of mother and baby fu lions. The bowls have interiors that have been lined and edged with silver.

This is a dainty set of 4 ruby flash, etched wine glass tumblers, ca.1890 with an elegant Victorian air. Condition: ruby is in good condition; one tumbler has slight loss to the stain and a minor rim chip. Measurement: 3 3/8 in. high. x 2 in. diam.

A vintage Art Nouveau period sterling silver 4-3/4" jam spoon c1900. This spoon has a 1-1/4" x 7/8" acanthus leaf bowl, a twisted tendril design stem, and it is stamped STERLING with an obscured maker's mark, and it is in excellent original condition with no scrapes, dents, monograms, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. A (Ludwig) Moser Three Handled Loving Cup, Circa 1870-1895. It is Green Glass with a Blue, Pink Yellow and White Enamel and Gilt Floral Design All Over, including the handle. From Karlsbad in Bohemia, now the Czech Republic. Dimensions; 7" high x 4.75" width at the top and 6" to handles. Excellent condition.

Offered is this pair of tall (11 3/4 inches or 29,5 cm in height) hand-painted portrait glass vases - the vases are unsigned, but were painted by Josef Ahne in all likelihood (refer to page 33 of Truitts' book on Bohemian glass for similar-shaped Ahne portrait vases). There is a small flake on the inner-rim of one vase (see picture).
