Lovely old Afghan Turkmen chuval/torba (door or floor cushion section) wool on wool weaving, all natural dyes circa 80 years old. Minor restoration around the edges but over all very good condition with an intricate pattern. Dimensions 120cm x 39cm.
Taisho period (1920s) lacquered wood kogo (box for incense during tea ceremony), its top decorated with two roundels, one containing bamboo and the other cherry flowers. Elegant object in Japanese taste, the body is made out of kiri (Paulownia tree) wood, perfect lacquer work, two parts fit perfectly, beautiful surfaces, in excellent condition. Diameter 1.82 inches.
1900-1920s (late Meiji - early Taisho) Japanese burlwood stand with live edge and two sides with wave shaped edges, to be used for placing small objects during tea ceremony or display of okimono. Wonderful dense wood with supremely beautiful texture resembling swirling clouds, in excellent condition. Size 6 x 5 inches, 0.35 inches thick.

Smoothly trimmed by chisel for the stability of each bottom. Aesthetically grain is coming out as well. Solid make, with some scratches, cracks, stians, etc...
Ca 1920 A wonderful set liqueur cups with etched silver plate holders. The cups are also etched with various designs. Three holders have a daisy and bud motif, four feature holly leaves while the remaining four have bamboo. One glass insert has a rough rim, another has a crack ( see photos) and some of the holders have dark spots inside the plate. 1-1/4"(h) x 1-5/8"(w). Sold as is.

A fascinating Jar-shaped set of stacking food boxes known as a Jubako in multi-color dating from the early 20th century. Jubako were used to serve food to groups or family on festive occasions, where the food was presented in the box, and each person would take what they wanted, rather than have the meal served on individual dishes as in more formal Kaiseki meals. Assembled it is 20 cm (8 inches) diameter 32.5 cm (13 inches) tall and is in overall excellent condition.
