A rare wine ewer, with warming pot, depicting the famous Tang Dynasty "drunken" poet Li Bai (701 - 762), with one of his best known poems and another inscribed on the warmer. Both poems are signed by the same calligrapher. This item carries the reign mark of the Tongzhi emperor (1862 - 1874)but was probably made a little later during the Guangxu reign (1875-1908). Condition - there are chips to the edges of the warmer (please see enlargement 1)...

Antique Chinese porcelain figure of one of the Three Star Gods (Longevity, Prosperity, Happiness). This is the God of Happiness, or the Fu star, with wonderful and elaborate famille-rose enamel mandarin robes with flowers and flower pots on his robes. He also holds a small child, which is one of his recognizable attributes. He is said to have once lived as governor Yang Cheng of Daozhou. Yan Cheng had risked his life writing a memorial to the emperor in order to abolish dwarf slavery...

A perfectly potted Daoguang famille rose dish, finely painted with a harbor scene depicting the Teng Wang Ge, a pavilion noted for its famous view located in Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi province, on the banks of the Gan River 60 km south of the Yangtze River. The pavilion built in 653 AD by Li Yuanying was made famous in the poem "Teng Wang Ge Xu" written by the renowned poet of the Tang era, Wang Wei (701-763), also in a Preface to Teng Wang Pavilion by the artist Wang Buo...
A small underglaze blue decorated stem dish painted inside with three 17th/18th Centuty style cranes and outside with three bats. The stem is decorated with buddhist knots and stylized plantain leaves. To the inside of the base is the four character mark of the Kangxi emperor (1662-1722) but this item was probably made later, during the 19th Century. Condition - there are two repairs to the rim, each with an associated short hairline. No further damages or restoration...

This bottle is covered overall in a thick, even oxblood glaze. The copper colorant has drained slightly down from the mouth leaving a narrow band of white glaze that continues into the mouth for a short distance; otherwise, the interior appears to be unglazed. A kozuka with gilt and silvered bronze decoration of a general's baton and banner on dark patinated bronze nanako ('fish roe' textured ground.) The utility knife handle with shakudo (a pickled gold and copper alloy) back and sides. Surfaces showing wear and slight distress from use but in fairly good and serviceable condition. Could benefit from a light cleaning and oiling. Length, little more than 3 3/4 inches (9.53 cm)
Height approximately 32 cm (included the wooden lid). There are a few chips on the rim where the wooden lid supports and a few chips on the base. No hairlines, no cracks, no repairs. In good condition.
