Mayan Decorated Cylinder. 10 ¼” x 4 1/4” Circa 600 A.D. – 900 A.D. A tall, polychrome decorated vase having a wide center band two large Moan birds, a sea shell. Upper band of well developed, painted glyphs. Wide lower band containing four large circlular elements. Repaired from several large original pieces. Some areas of root marks minor paint loss. Provenance: Ex. Prof. Hugo Munsterberg (1916 – 1995) Collection. Acquired from Andre Emmerich, 1974.

Pre-Columbian Chimu Goldball Necklace. Circa 1000 A.D. – 1200 A.D. 28” total lenght. 76 grams total weight. Composed of high karat gold beads including fourteen large, lentoid-ball beads, each interspersed with a medium size gold bead and sixty-four small gold beads. Several of the large beads have dents and evidence of crushing and small holes along the central soldering seam. Modernly strung, suitable for wearing. Provenance: Ex. Jean-Eugene Lions Collection, Geneva.

A Veracruz stone yoke circa 250-950 AD in characteristic U-form, the thick implement with polished surface except for the outside. A flat top, the sides tapering slightly downwards. The end of each arm is relief- carved with an ornate pattern of complementary bands and scrolling plumage-like motifs. Remains of a red pigment in a speckled grey-light green stone. Charming Chinese acrobat in a handstand atop a natural rootwood base. The acrobat is hand carved out of boxwood. He wears shorts tied at the waist and a pair boots. His hair is tied back and he has a goatee. Very finely carved. It is from the Ching Dynasty, 19th century. It measures 27 tall, about 18" wide at the base. Excellent original condition.

His trousers are shaped like tigers' heads biting into his legs, with a gilded belt and tiger stripes. He holds a lotus flower high above his head, supporting a bronze singing bell bowl with gold gilded flowers, butterflies, and vines all around it and raised dots all along its bottom half...

Fully marked including pattern no. 6771 (first produced in 1882), director’s letter M (1873-91), and phrase “Sterling-Silver”...

#530 Antique Anglo-Indian Tea Chest, sandalwood overlaid with strips of elk horn. The box is rectangular with sloped sides. The elk horn on the top of the stepped, sloping lid arranged in a starburst pattern. The fitted interior is decorated with incised ivory panels, highlighted with lac, a similarly decorated pair of removable caddies and a circular cut crystal sugar bowl and a horn caddy spoon. Antique Chinese Qingbai porcelain ewer. Delicately potted with very thinly walled construction. Dramatically lobed ovoid body. Trumpet neck with foliate rim. Curving strap handle incised lengthwise and with 5 raised round dots. Long curving and subtly tapered spout. The body and lower neck are incised with horizontal striping. While the foot remains unglazed, the rest of the ewer is covered with a transparent white, blue-green glaze exemplary of the Qingbai name.
