Finely painted to depict five-clawed dragons chasing a flaming pearl, raised on short foot ring, base having six-character Guangxu mark in underglaze iron red and possibly of the period, 2.5"H X 6.25"D, circa late 19th/early 20th century. Condition Report; Excellent Condition.

This is tsutsugaki textile from the Edo period. A design of lions and peonies in the midst of silent falling snow. It's not flashy, but it looks like a fusuma painting from the Edo period. Both the indigo dye and the cotton are from the Edo period, and they have a very nice texture. There is one slight repair mark on the upper left corner. Terracotta head of one of the Dioscuri wearing a pointed cap with bulged rim. Strands of wavy hair frame the face.
The head is almost entirely covered with a white slip. The details of the face such as eyes and mouth were rendered with additional colors.
The celestial twins Castor and Pollux, the so-called Dioscuri, were regarded as the patrons of travellers and sailors...

Figured blue silk. Stitched on embroidered roundels with design of a boy holding flowers. Applied with black silk band and ribbon at the collar, cuffs and hem. On yellow silk satin in satin stitch and Peking knot beautifully embroidered sleeve bands with flowers, peaches and bats. Peach colored silk lining. Condition: One roundel at the back and parts of the ribbon missing. Some wear and minor staining, loose threads, lining worn, repair. Dimension: Sleeve to sleeve 148 cm, 57 cm high.

A hand painted cloth banner decorated with imagery by various artists including the Nanga School literati artists Tanomura Chokunyu (1814-1907) and Nakanishi Koseki (1807-1884) as well as Tanaka Koha of the Kagetsuan School of Sencha and Confucian scholar Goto Shoin (1797-1864) and Hirose Kyokuso (1807-1863) who were two of the most important followers of Rai Sanyo. The date Konoe-saru (year of the monkey in metal) is visible in both the central leaf and the lower left gourd image...

A large and rare Siamese reliquary urn in stupa-form, worked in repousse silver, the lid and the base filled with a sort of resin or clay. Condition: please look at the photos, dented, deformations, splits, few small losses. Dimension: height: c. 41 cm, weight: c. 1.1 kg.

Beautiful Edo Period (1603-1868) Iga Tea bowl

Natural ash glazed Iga Pottery is traditionally produced in former Iga Province, the birthplace of ninja, in central Japan dating back to 7th century and it generally reflects wabi-sabi aesthetics with its unique rustic appearance.

Beautiful female head of a pillar figurine with sharply defined facial features. The elaborate hairdo is reminiscent of Egyptian wigs.
The woman shows beautiful almond-shaped eyes with neatly marked lids. The arched eyebrows span the entire forehead. The nose is gone, the lips are pressed to a gentle smile.
Elaborate style with much use of the modeling tool. Back side left raw.
Pillar figurines were prevalent in Judah during the First Temple period, ca. from 800 to 586 BC...

Rare terracotta draped Corinthian column, the details of the capital and the drapery finely modeled.
The motif is uncommon and supposed to bear some funerary significance.
Behind the monograms ΠΓ. A small vent hole below the inscription.
