This is Yogi used in a rich merchant's family of Akita for Edo period. This is drawn in good-quality Tsutsugaki. As for this, a Chinese phoenix drawn boldly is very impressive. It is very elegant. As for this, cotton is spun by hand and is thick. As for this, cotton cloth of the lining is dyed into deep green. Good-quality Tsutsugaki often uses it to lining. Statue of Krishna dancing on the head of the Kaliya Snake, on an elevated square base, holding a butter ball in his right hand. Bronze, with fine dark green patina. India, early 19th century. Height: 6,4 cm. Abrasion due to age, otherwise very good condition. NOTE: this statue refers to Krishna's adolescence. The Kaliya snake had poisoned the pool in which cow herds were drinking. An unusual shape of deep bowl and finely potted with in-curving walls set on a tall splayed foot, applied evenly overall with a thin and clear crackled white glaze throughout the interior and exterior, including base, It’s in very fine condition overall, measures 5.25” h. x 5 7/8” d. (13.3 cm x 15 cm).
