1900's Japanese Satsuma Box with Flower

It is 5.5 inches (14 cm) tall by 7.2 inches (18.3 cm) wide. It is 4.8 Lb.

It has been repaired at the flower finial (glued back) and has rubbing of gold and paint, skip glazes, chips at the leaves at the finial, hairline cracks, and surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos).

Japanese woodblock print depicting an actor portraying a seated samurai. The image is signed at the left side "Ichiyusai Kuniyoshi ga" (1797-1861). The red Yoshi Kiri seal is beneath the signature. The print was published by Ibaya Senzaburo between 1847-1848. The paper measures 14 1/2"V x 9 7/8"H. It is most likely a panel from a triptych. Very good overall condition with excellent color. The print is not backed. No tape or tape stains...

19th century Japanese small lacquered wood netsuke representing a theatrical mask of an oni. Crisp detailing, nicely lacquered, great patina. some wear to the surface.. The pink ground of the body is sharply contrasted with the classic black foot with gold banding. Each vase has a complementary hand painted reserve of courting lovebirds framed in rich gilding...

This is a great example Meiji Era satsuma. It is probably my favorite piece from Shizan. The colors are rich and the detail is fantastic. It stands 4 3/4 inches tall. This Ewer is in nearly perfect condition.

A brilliant set of 5 gentlemen from the Edo Period C.1850 by Kunisada I, one of the masters of the time. He was given the name Toyokuni III by his famous teacher Toyokuni in 1844. Fine detail and colors still very vivid. Framed in 3D out away from the surface would make a spectacular piece of art. H:28" x w:29". Ask for shipping quote.

Gothic sterling silver porringer. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York. Concave sides on short foot. Rim reeded with applied leaves. Solid handle with carved figure of medieval horn-blowing huntsman. An impressive example of the breadth of historic resources and techniques that Tiffany mined during the 19th century. Hallmark includes pattern no. 9680 and director’s letter T (1892-1902).

Antique 18th-19th century circular bronze plaque-dish in the Renaissance manner "Minerva leads the personification of painting into the circle of Arts and Sciences," after Hans Jakob Bayr (1574 – 1628), Augsburg, Germany.

The bronze plaque, beautifully cast in relief, depicts the goddess Minerva (Athena in Greek mythology), introducing the personification of "Painting" into the circle of liberal arts. Female figures personify the Seven Liberal Arts...

There is no visible image of god in Japan's oldest religion, “Shinto”. People look for the image of gods in their daily surroundings and found the divine spirits to dwell in pine trees. For this reason, pine trees are considered sacred and many wonderful artworks of pine trees were created. Cranes are said to live one thousand years. They are considered auspicious as their distinctive high pitched voices can reach to the heaven...

Kangxi style, but probably early 1800s

This vase is painted in green, yellow, turquoise and black enamel on a pale aubergine background, depicting various dignitary figures in a garden setting. The interior is fully glazed white, having some minor pitting and small iron specks in the glaze. The base is unglazed with areas of light orange re-oxidation from the firing, and the fine white paste is visible around the perimeter. There is a spurious Zhengde mark in black enamel on the shoulder...

19th century Japanese kiseruzutsu - tobacco pipe holder - carved out of a section of stag antler. Very clever use of natural skin texture and color to represent an old rotting pine log with its peeling bark. Two holes in the upper back part for hanging. Elegant piece in Japanese taste, excellent patina, in perfect condition. Length 8 1/2 inches.

Antique late 19th century beautifully executed with fine detail bronze sculpture of Napoleon Bonaparte, in a standing pose with crossed arms, wearing his uniform of Colonel of Chasseurs Cheval de la Garde Imperial, with the Legion of Honour Order. A stepped plinth, with a ormolu plaque, bearing the coat of arms of Guatemala.

Rare Navajo Rocker Engraved Profile Spoon. Circa 1885-90. Totally rocker engraved, no stampwork. Interesting depiction of a Navajo man or woman in the bowl with hat and feathers. 5 1/2 inches in length. 1 1/8 x 1 1/4 inches bowl size. Incised file marks on the handle. A masterpiece of Navajo silversmithing.

19th century kagamibuta (“mirror lid”) netsuke, its top with Shibayama inlay of a mosquito. Very rare creature in Japanese art, possibly unique unique subject in netsuke. Very well made, inlays include 2 types of mother of pearl and brown buffalo horn. Beautiful patina, swinging metal loop at the back for the cord. Diameter 1.6 inches.
