A Japanese Hirado Mikawachi Ware water dropper in the form of a puppy. The white porcelain dog is decorated with brown and blue spots on its body and brown highlights on his eyes, ears, and tail. The underside of the puppy is incised to show the legs, feet, and belly hair, and it has not been glazed. The puppy measures about 2 3/4" long x 1 1/4" high, and dates to the mid 19th Century. Three elongated light blue plaques mounted in antique brass bow frames with screw-on backs. The plagues measure about 2" wide x 3" high, and are in excellent condition. Buddhist shrine, or zushi. Inside stands Jizo bosatsu, holding a wish-granting jewel (hoju no tama) in his left hand and his staff in the right. Very elaborate wooden carving with thick layers of lacquer on top of which gilding. Unusual face with down cast eyes. Metal staff with moving rings.
