This is a finely carved 19th century boxwood netsuke depicting a sleepy Momotaro, a name that means Elder son of the Peach, who is seated as he emerges from the kernel of a giant Peach that rests on top of a tree branch. Early 19th century, finely hand-carved Japanese boxwood netsuke of a muscular Toad that has placed itself on top of a decaying Well Bucket. Excellent form and detail on this classical representation of the subject. Nails on bucket sides are inlaid in black horn. Chimney himotoshi that starts on the bottom of the bucket, and continues through its middle handle. The very rich patina that this carving has acquired through the ages has given it a dark color tone...

A Very Rare/Fine Korean Total Blue Glazed Small Bottle-19th C.: Korea, Joseon period, 19th century. A small bottle of very fine and rare beautiful blue glazed, of compressed globular form set on a short ring foot with tall, cylindrical neck ending in a rolled lip, brushed overall with cobalt blue under fine and clear white glaze, the recessed base and inside of the moutn glazed white. It’s in very fine condition, it measure 10 cm x 7.5 cm (4” x 3”) respectably.

A 16th century Yoshiro Zogan tsuba. The type is named for a Kaga province artist considered to have advanced the late Onin period brass inlay art to that of hira-zogan - flush with the iron surface. The school also took hold in other provinces, most notably Bizen. The mokko-gata form of this tsuba would appear to be uncommon for Yoshiro Zogan tsuba particularly of katana size. Eight ka-mon are inlaid in open work fashion...

A fine and rare Bow porcelain coffee cup and saucer painted with the "Dragon Chasing (the Flaming) Pearl (of Wisdom). The interior of the cup also shows the dragon, while the exterior of the saucer is painted with clouds. One of the ways to distinguish this early Bow version is the arrow shaped tongue emanating from the mouth of the dragon. The pieces are very finely potted, and each has a workman's number 13 on the bottom...

Ceramic "tenmoku" bowl of classical shape with thick rim and small base. Fine glazing of "hare fur" type, part of which has run down gracefully to the base. An old accident at a small area on the rim has been restored (see last two photos). China, Song Dynasty period. Height: 4,6 cm. Diameter: 10,7 cm.

Beautiful Northern Korean bandaji (blanket storage chest) with highly ornate white brass fittings incised with birds and flowers and auspicious symbols. The white brass plated mounts are cladded onto the front of the chest hinged to allow operation of the drop leaf door. The chest has two handles on the side for mobility and two handles on the front to aid in operation of the door.

Beautiful Original Antique Japanese sword tansu, made from Kuri (chestnut) Hardwood. Gorgeous original natural lacquer finish. The two longest drawers have Kiri leaf Mon (emblem) iron locks, with a smaller storage drawer beside them.

Antique Japanese single section Kiri (paulownia) wood tansu, all natural original finish. Very simplistic and functional design. All drawers have iron locks and Hirute style iron handles. Two small drawers in the bottom corner are perfect for storing small valuables.

Beautiful bronze statue by Eugene Marioton, French, 1854-1925, titled "Vainquer." The statue itself stands 27 1/2" tall, and it sits on a bronze and rogue marble pedestal that measures 44" tall, making the complete set just under 6" tall. The statue is inscribed Eug. Marioton, and Siot-Decauville is the French foundry. There is some minor pitting on the bottom by the signature, but none at all on the statue body or pedestal This beautiful statue and pedestal is being sold as a set only.

A beautiful framed work of art, Japanese silk embroidery panel of a pair of Japanese Chin puppies playing with a tasseled floral ball. The imagery is reminiscent of fu dogs, in which the ball represents rule over the world. Hand-embroidered in gorgeously stunning condition, with very high-end and tasteful framework. Late Meiji period (1868-1912)
