A resplendent Japanese cloisonne vase decorated with motif of a plant often seen during the autumn in Japan. The Japanese name is Hozuki, while in English it is known as either Japanese Lantern or Winter Cherry. The motif symbolize the height of autumn and the plant is often used in flower arrangements. A small sized kiri or paulownia wood tansu with iron decorative fittings and locks surrounding the drawers and the sides of the tansu. The locks are decorated with motifs in the form of a plant and curved features for the side fittings. The bottom of all the drawers contain an inscription of which drawer goes where and the name of the previous owner...

This incense burner is cast bronze in a bombe form, having a brownish patina with small patches of verdigris. The base is caste with a six-character Xuande mark (though not of the period). The interior shows evidence of long use and has some areas of verdigris. It is set on a flaring footring which echoes its rather thick flaring lip. There is evidence of wear and use and some tiny nicks to one handle. It is in generally good condition. Purchased in London in 1978...

Beautiful Japanese antique small tansu with locking bar (bo), 3 drawers behind locking bar, locking bar has key and elaborate hardware with kiri mon, bottom drawer has large metal raised lock plate with crane, safe box in lower right hand corner with more metal hardware, two small interior safe drawers, front of keyaki (elm) wood, original finish, Meiji Period. Size: 24 3/4" high x 23 1/4" wide x 13" deep.

This early 20th century ivory carving of a maiden is 15 7/8” high (17 ½” with base), 3 ½” wide and 2 7/8” thick. She wears a simple and elegant robe and holds a bouquet of flowers in front of her. The carving is superb and has nice patina. The wood base is a later made piece. Aside from some small hair line cracks due to its age, the statue is in great condition. A Korean Finely Inlaid and Molded Celadon Octagonal Bowl-13th C.: Korea, Koryo period, 13th Century, It is molded on the interior with a central flower head medallion, each facet on the exterior inlaid with double flower heads on a leafy stem within a rectangle, all within lined in borders, bearing spur marks on the base. A Very Fine Korean Punchong Stoneware White Slip Inlaid Shallow Bowl-15th C.: Korea, Joseon dynasty, 15th century. The Shallow circular dish tapering to a raised ring foot, decorated with inlaid white slip, the interior with a centural flowerhead medallion surrounded by band of smaller impressed flowerheads and stylized curtain rope pattern, the exterior applied with a luster celadon glaze over all, base unglazed. It’s in very fine condition without any damages at all...

This vase is covered overall in brushed slip (hakeme) with three registers of incised horizontal lines from which issue simple flame-like patterns. The brushed slip decoration extends into the flaring mouth and down to the footring. The foot is completely obscured by adhering fused sand from the firing. There are a couple of unintended copper red dots from the glaze. The condition is very good, having no chips cracks or repairs.

Up for sale is a very rare antique Chinese silk brocade panel with a large phoenix roundel in the middle, 11.5" diameter, together with other smaller patterns related to buddhism; Qing dynasty, or could be earlier, very intricate piece of art work with fine gold threads; backed with light yellow-ish silk lining. Overall the panel is in excellent condition, folding line in the middle, one water mark in the roundel which I believe can can be cleaned up. Measurements: Approx 44.5" x 28.5".
