Ancient Chinese Archaic Era bronze dou, footed vessel used to contain food. This traditionally dou vessel consists of two pieces. The larger piece is a circular bowl supported on a stem which gradually tapers downward and outward to form a round foot. And the lid which is a shallower round bowl on a shorter stem which is inverted and snugly fitted over the bottom bowl. Two ring handles are attached to the rim of the lower bowl on either side...

We are proud to present this extremely rare mugi-de Oribe chawan dating back to early stage of the Momoyama Period. It is a slightly distorted cylidrical shape Hanzutsu tea bowl with flaring brim and trimmed sides. The bowl was covered with a Shino-Oribe-type glaze (a feldspat glaze with a higher content of ash than Shino).

Under the decoration of vertical parallel lines in four different shades of brown, which gave this decor the name 'mugi-de', which means barley straw...

Third son of the director of the Kano School of painting, Yasunobu was appointed head of the Kyoto branch at a young age after his father’s death. Meanwhile, his two older brothers went to Edo to take up prestigious positions painting for the Tokugawa Shogunate. In 1662 Yasunobu gained the honorific title of “Hogen,” and near the end of his life in his 70s he wrote a treatise on the art of painting that would server as a central doctrine for later generations of painters...

Tall, rectangular arrow case completely covered with mother of pearl (Raden) inlay. The apex lid has the gilt "Mitsudome" symbol commonly associated with Hachiman, the Shinto god of war. The case is in good form with a beaded edge for a secure fitting. It is kept together by silk cord by means of tying the knot. Mounted on steel stand.

Exquisite Pre-Columbian stirrup vessel depicting Two Jaguars, an adult and cub, 500 BC–500 AD, 8" H x 10.5 ; Vicus, Peru. This piece appears in "Pre-Columbian Art" by Alan Lapiner, in color on page 186. Its broad grin is reminiscent of the characters in Maurice Sendak's book "Where the Wild Things Are." It has been reassembled from approximately 5 pieces, with the cracks filled in.

This jade skull is yellowish green and is from the Hongshan Neolithic Culture. It was dated to 6700BP-4900BP. It is 1 7/8" long and 1 5/8" wide. It has marvelous patina and the color is mesmerizing. It is 100% translucent. The jade is extremely fine grained and top quality. This could have been the top of a shaman's staff. This extraordinarily rare Olmec Jade dagger or possible bloodletter was found together with the below quartz dagger, This piece is 4 1/2" long. The little Olmec man on the top is only 1 1/4". You can imagine the amount of work that went into creating and carving this miniature little man using only abrasion. We offer today a wonderful Chinese Longquan Celadon Porcelain Guanyin (Kwan Yin) dating from the Ming Dynasty. This Guan Yin has been acquired from the world famous collector of Chinese ceramics, Dr. Nearing and his Dragon's Lair Collection some years ago.

The Buddha is sitting in the double lotus position. The right hand is in the Karana mudra position, which expels negative energy or wards off evil.

It is about 10 1/4 inches tall.

It weighs about 1.949 kg.

This is an incredible Cougar Mountain found in Oregon. It is made from beautiful tranlucent orange agate. It is 8 1/2" long. Dates to 10,000 BP. Perfect condition. Great provenance. I purchased it in 1988. It comes with a Gregory Perino COA. I personally sent it to him so I know the COA is not a fake. None finer.

Antique Japanese Funa Tansu (ship safe chest) made all of quarter sawn cut Keyaki (elm) wood with revealing natural woodgrain and finish. Cut out appliqué hardware with incised floral motifs adorns the body of the tansu. There are six drawers altogether.

An antique Japanese bronze Buddhist temple bell called Bonsho with a carrying handle depicting diverging dragon heads called Ryuzu. The upper protrusions called Chi or Nyu improves the resonance of the sound when struck. Two opposing striking panels called Tsuki-za is the point on the bell where the best and longest sound is achieved. A bell of this size was hung in a small temple to summon the monks to prayer.
