Japanese two section tansu, made with Kiri (paulownia) wood with natural finish front drawers, and original black lacquered frame. The piece has pine tree shaped hand-forged iron lock plates, with warabite iron pulls. The locks are incised chrysanthemums and the corner hardware is fan iron plating. The piece holds a side lock box with a large decorative iron chrysanthemum plating and keyhole. Inside the box are two small drawers with triangular plates and round pulls...

Unusual Japanese gyosho bako tansu (merchant's chest). With original red lacquer finish, this large piece holds three very deep drawers, each with squared kakute iron pulls on stylized pine tree mounts. The top drawer features a large central lock with flying crane motif, while the lower drawers feature chrysanthemum locks. The sides of the tansu also have two handles for traveling.

Kaji-banten worn by a fireman (fire-fighter) with all hand-stitched sashiko. It has katazome (stencil-resist-dye) "gissha", wheels of a cow carriage motif. It has rather rare green lining. In excellent condition except for some wear and rips in the lower front. 19th century. 126cm x 122cm

Beautiful antique drafting table made by the Washburn Shops at the Worcester Polytecnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts, circa late 1800s. It has a black cast iron adjustable base with hand painted legs that are in perfect original condition. The height can be adjusted, as well as the top, which can be angled to any degree. It measures 46" high x 26" wide x 28" when flat. This is not only a beautiful piece of drafting use, but a work of art as well

This is a beautifully decorated satsuma plate by Shizan. As you can see in the images, this rare Meiji Era piece is in excellent condition. The plate measures 4 3/4 inches across.

Chinese zitan wood ink well, with gold flecks throughout the natural graining. The top is carved with geometric patterns and two wells for ink. The opposite side is hand carved with calligraphy inscription.

Beautiful oak S roll top desk in great original condition. Made by and signed by Moon Desk Co., Muskgon, Michigan, this lovely desk measures 51" tall x 48" wide x 33" deep. The bottom drawer on the right side pulls out and then turns to reveal deep shelves for files. The inside of the desk has compartments for letters and other items, with a place for pencils also. A small, most beautiful and very rare vase. Fine shugary white porcelain body, covered with an translucent Aquamarin-coloured glaze. Song Dynasty, 12th - 13th century. H : 6,8 cm. A namasu or serving dish of unusual quadrilobed form with scalloped suhama style rim; a stylization of a wave washed beach. An auspicious form referencing Horai-san, the isle of the Immortals and therefore a wish for a long life. The bowl is decorated with a central mon of a stylised Lotus motif, perhaps also containing elements of the aoi-mon, and karakusa. With hand-forged iron hardware, decorative plating incised with motifs of cranes and turtles with many tails, both symbols of longevity. Decorated with hand-forged iron plating, the motifs seen throughout the piece's hardware include the image of Ebisu, one of the Seven Lucky Gods of Fortune, proudly holding up a freshly caught fish, a large Mokko (melon) shaped lock on the front pair of doors, with flowers and pine trees adorning the drawer below in the form of its lock and handle plates...

This early very beautiful Civil War era capelet is a rich reddish brown calico made with the finest cotton fabric that looks like it might be homespun. The workmanship is the best. The capelet is 14” back of neck to bottom and is 10” front down to bottom and 24” spread out. Circa 1860 and excellent condition and Museum quality.

Another historical masterpiece in the development of Japanese culture: grey Shino Chawan, distorted cylindrical shape - hanzutsu, covered with a whitish Shino glaze over an iron oxide engobe, resulting in a beautiful grey shino glaze, which partly turns to red shino (aka shino).

A decoration of a branch with a leaf and berries on the front and a criss cross grass pattern on the back has been incised into the engobe resulting in white shino colored lines...

18 pages (9 double sides) of a Tibetan/Mongolian music manuscript with YANG-YIG GRAPHIC MUSIC NOTATION. Inks on paper. Good condition, finger marks to corners, stain across centre fold, each page 22 x 8.5 cm. Undated estimated to be 19th century or earlier. In stiff paper binding. Can be viewed in London and shipped worldwide. Such texts would have been used as a mnemonic device by the master of chant. The type of graphic notation of the melody line goes back to the 6th century...

A large Korean bedside chest or Morijang. The top of the chest holds a row of 3 drawers with hinged double doors below, and a row of four drawers along the very bottom of the piece. Motifs of butterflies and auspicious symbols are seen throughout the hardware plating. The interior holds a single curved shelf with decorating metal plating and a locking mechanism to hold its front doors securely shut.

The 2 sets of Keyaki (Zelkova)) burl wood front sliding panels and the beautiful wood grained Akita Sugi (Cryptomeria from Akita prefecture) sliding panels below highlight this attractive chest with Hinoki (Cypress) wood making up the frame and balance.

Most likely custom built and commissioned by a wealthy family making this an unusual and unique chest...

Antique Chinese pair of stone temple fu dogs. These fierce guardians would have been placed on either side of the entrance to a Buddhist temple in order to ward off evil spirits. One statue has its mouth open and the other mouth is closed, a symbolic trait to represent the in-and-out breathing of life and the sound of “om.” Heavy in weight.

Black glaze ewer, lobed body decorated with such known as paper cut design of plum blossom to both side and flared mouth rim. Southern Song Dynasty Jizhou ware. Condition is very good near excellent, no any chip, no crack and free from any restoration. Height: 26,8 cm. Note: Almost many Jizhou kiln artefact founded in the form of small pieces like bowl, dish, censer, small ewer, small to middle size vases, but there also have some middle to large pieces like this ewer is rare.
