An antique Gyosho Bako (peddlar's chest) with the original dark brown lacquer. The chest has 4 drawers in the top section. Three of the drawers have iron hardware locks. The bottom section has one hinged locked door with 3 small drawers hidden behind it. Two of the drawers have iron locks. The original loops on both sides are for the rope the peddlar uses to carry the chest.

Pilgrim's sodenashi made of hand-spun cotton with writhings which are the name of the pilgrim, the year (Meiji 5, 1871) etc. The places of pilgrimage is Saigoku Sanju-Sansho (33 holy places in the west) which are for worship of Kannon and the oldest places of pilgrimage. Those are located in Kyoto, Osaka, Gifu, Hyogo, Nara, Shiga and Wakayama. The cloth in the back is also hand-spun cotton and vegetable indigo dye. In excellent condition. 45cm x 57cm

An exceptionally detailed, well cast bronze devotional lamp ("Sukunda") depicting Ganesh (Ganesha)flanked by two lions, seated underneath a seven-headed cobra whose sinuous back proceeds down the lamp and is integrated into the handle, which is surmounted by a kneeling figure, possibly the devotee who commissioned the piece. In exceptional original condition. The piece stands some 12-3/4" in height and is quite heavy. A beautiful and substantial devotional item.

Kappa (cape) which was called "hikimawashi" or "maru-gappa" in old days. It is made of cotton with warp kasuri checker board pattern on one side and cotton stripes on the other side. A fine Southern Song Dynasty Longquan celadon dish with well balance potted, decorated with twin fish in the centre and underside with lotus petals panel. Covered overall with slight pale powder green even near "Kinuta" blue green glazed. Condition is very good and pristine glazed excepted minor crackled, no any chip to body and rim side, no any crack and free from any restoration. Diameter: 12,9 cm.

Rare, Museum Quality 19th Century Medicine Chest (Yakjang) with Paulownia Doors. This is the finest work of Korean antique furniture we have ever offered, and likely the only example of this type anywhere outside of Korea. Antique medicine chests with doors are extremely rare even in Korea, and this is probably the best known condition among the very few left. Each drawer has the name of the medicine inscribed on it. Perfectly proportioned at 100 x 75 x 33 cm, 39.5 x 29.5 x 13 inches.
