Japanese antique bamboo basket, with beautiful handle attached at the lower sides and bound with special decorative stylized knots. Hexagonal body of woven herringbone pattern. Feet at bottom are made of special decorative knots that are attached to ribbed shaped splines. Signed at bottom. The characters are:
寿雲斎作 "Made by Juunsai (寿雲斎)". Overall excellent condition.

1830-40 velvet reticule theorem purse In nice condition with some age darkening. It is all hand sewn, lined with fine homespun linen. No rips or tears but there is loss of most of the ribbon trim around the outside edges. It is 8 1/2" top to bottom and 8" across at the widest point.
An antique Japanese Choba Tansu also known as a merchant chest made of Kirinoki (Paulownia) and Hinoki (Cypress) woods,most likely from the Nigata area of Japan. Featuring a Ryo Biraki (hinged double door) design it has a split level shelf where documents and merchant books were stored. Gumpai style handles and hand made iron fittings decorate this chest.

An antique Japanese bronze okimono statue of a Japanese Ama or pearl diver walking to her boat in the wind. The artist conveyed the wind intensity by the way that her headscarf has unraveled as she keeps it atop her head. Her feet nearly reach the water embankment as she readies herself for the work ahead. The artist, Kyoi Masatsune - 京井政常,signed his name with a hallmark near her feet.

Otagaki Rengetsu (1791-1875) Antique Japanese Sake Cup with inscribed poem and signature.
Rengetsu Otagaki (1791-1875) was Buddhist nun who is widely regarded to have been one of the greatest Japanese poets of the 19th century.
She was also a skilled potter and painter and expert calligrapher and adorned her ceramics with poems written in her unique calligraphic style
.
The cup style and the age of the glaze is consistent with authentic Rengetsu work.

A rare antique Japanese Niigata Kiri Children's Kasane Tansu (stacking chest on chest) made entirely of Kirinoki (Paulownia) wood. It features a stylized Chrysanthemum design on each plate which represents the Mon or family crest of the original owner and Gumbai handles. The iron fittings were all hand made and the chest was constructed using straight dovetail joinery and hardened wooden nails.
These children's chests are not often seen in Japan...
Antique Thai Iron Standing Buddha, early Ayutthaya period 14th century, heavy oxidation but still delightful. The right hand is raised from the elbow in Abhaya with the hand in Gyan mudra, the left is holding possible a sacred medicine ball. The figure is on tiered square stand, and stands in a thin delicate pose.

Important mask of Mahakala, with a fierce expression, his forehead surmounted by a sort of diadem sustaining a range of tiny skulls . Finely embossed iron, with detailed features, and polychrome pigments to enhance some of the mask parts (eyes, teeth, skulls). A thin textile of red colour is affixed to the inside of the mask, probably to protect the dancer's face. Tibet, early 19th century.Height: 24 cm. The mask is nicely mounted on a custom stand. Very good condition.
Extremely rare example of Early Ming dynasty large blue and white bowl, decorated to the exterior with Eight Buddhist emblems or such known as Bajixiang supported by Lotus flower. This is a very rare Cloisonne piece from Kinuken or S Inaba. Kinukenwas one of the Meiji masters. We've never seen another. It was acquired from one of the best cloisonne collections in the world. It is probably a late Meiji, early Showa era piece. The plague has two sides and a footed gilt frame. Some of the gilt is worn, otherwise it is in perfect condition. Stamped S. Inaba on the frame. This is truly a museum worthy piece from the great satsuma artist, Seikozan. It is probably our all time favorite example from this artist. This vase is literally smothered with intricate enamel and gold work. The vase stands 9 1/2 inches tall. This vase appears to be nearly perfect but it has had an amazing and nearly invisible rim chip repair.
A rare hexafoil form of Longquan celadon washer with a deep side, decorated to exterior with two concentric ribs and covered overall with very nice an even olive green glazed. Southern Song Dynasty Longquan ware. Condition is very good near perfect, no any chips, no any cracks and free from any restoration, excepted the base glazed with minor degradation, possibly excavated from near the beach area. Diameter: 11,5 cm and Height: 4 cm.
Chinese antique bronze tripod censer with lid, footed with modeled elephant heads, trunks as feet, pair of elephant head side handles with uplifted trunks, lid with recumbent elephant with garnitures pedestal bowl for handle. Small "ghau", the front side, made of bronze, is decorated with a foliage and lotus design, the box itself ans its lid being made of copper with bronze handles. The "ghau" contains a tiny bronze statue of Bodhisattava Manjusri and textile. Fine age patina. A leather cord allows attachement of the "ghau" to a belt. Tibet, 19th century. Very good condition.

This is an exceptionally well carved mask, dating, most probably, to the early 20th century. The artist who created this mask has invested it with a powerful and menacing presence, as the photos will, hopefully, show. The piece measures just over 11 inches in width and is intact, carved from a single tree fungus. A rare and powerful survival.
