A rare antique Japanese Niigata Kiri Children's Kasane Tansu (stacking chest on chest) made entirely of Kirinoki (Paulownia) wood. It features a stylized Chrysanthemum design on each plate which represents the Mon or family crest of the original owner and Gumbai handles. The iron fittings were all hand made and the chest was constructed using straight dovetail joinery and hardened wooden nails.

These children's chests are not often seen in Japan...

This very well carved Japanese ivory okimono is a late 19th century product. It is 5 1/2” high, 2 3/4” wide and 2 1/4″ thick measured from the bottom. It depicts a smiling farmer holding a bundle of fresh cut lotus roots which are wrapped and bound in a straw sheet. The facial expression is very realistic. This lovely antique bell is a traditional Ghanta, which is a Tibetan Buddhist ritual bell, sometimes called Dril, bu,and/or singing bell. Just over 6 inches tall, this Ghana is paired with the Dorje at the top of the handle, and the surface is decorated with an abundance of Tibetan symbols. A very rare and early example with its original polychrome and clear traces of long time use. Note the glossy patina on the back of the mask. There is some minor old damage caused by insects on the eyebrows, but in general this mask is in a very good authentic condition. H. 29,5 cm, W. 23 cm. From a Dutch private collection.

Salt box with its lid, of rectangular shape, decorated with incised geometric design on its sides, and geometric, partly in relief, design on its lid. An opening on the lid allows a spoon (now missing) to rest inside the box. Nepal, 19th century. Length: 18,7 cm. Height: 11 cm. Some erosion due to age, otherwise very good condition. Collected in Nepal in the early seventies.

This well-painted 19th century thangka depicts a three-headed tantric "Heruka" in "yab-yum" with his shakti.
