Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Dish with Fish (Ex. Grahame Clarke collection)

This porcelain dish was made during the 15th century. It has rounded sides and a "hole-bottom" base. It is decorated inside with, although rather indistinct, a "red biscuit" fish amongst water weeds that are in underglaze blue.

Diameter 11.5 cm. There are some crackles to the glaze and the glaze to the underside has an "orange peel" effect with some kiln grit embedded within the glaze...

Small statue of Buddha wearing a diadem, in a meditative posture ("dhyana mudra"), holding a stylized beggar bowl in his hands, sitting cross-legged on a double lotus throne. Bronze, with thick encrusted green patina. Tibet, 16th century. Height: 5 1/2" (14 cm). Diadem partly chipped, a few tiny casting defects, otherwise very good condition. A rather unusual aspect of the Buddha image.

A large late Ming dynasty blue and white "Kraak" porcelain dish. The central star-shaped panel is decorated with flowering plants and a grasshopper or cricket on rockwork. The moulded sides are painted with alternating vertical panels of stylized peaches and buddhistic symbols. This item was made in China for export to Europe during the reign of the Wanli emperor (1573-1619)...

Late Ming Early Qing Dynasty Chinese Blanc de Chine (Dehua) Porcelain Tripod Censer The elegant cylindrical body is encircled by four sets of raised double bow-string bands. The censer is supported on three carved floral-shaped feet, and is gently covered overall with a blanc-de-chine glaze with an exception of the interior and base unglazed. Size: 8.1 cm tall, 12.4 cm long, 11.5 cm wide. Condition: Excellent.

Chinese Ming 16th century sancai dish decorated with fish motive. 27,2 cm diameter. 4,3 cm high. Conditions : Have small chipped at the rim and glaze peel at one area (please see on the pictures) no crack, no repair or additional colour.

Late Ming Dynasty or Early Qing Dynasty wine pot or teapot. The cylindrical body moulded with a simulated ribbon applied with a chilong-shaped handle and spout, the cover surmounted with a knop in the form of a small coiled chilong, covered except for the recessed base with a creamy white glaze. Size: 15.8 cm high. Condition: excellent condition. No chips, hairlines, cracks, or repairs.

It is the very convincing written Chenghua mark which immediately is notable ! Very little distorted cylinder shaped (hanzutsu) tea bowl with a rounded brim, made of little reddish, coarse, unrefined Mino clay. The expertly thrown body was trimmed with a potter's knife in its lower part and through the finger marks (rokuro-me) covered with an ash glaze inside and outside. The little iron oxide in the clay turned the glaze to light brown.

On two opposite sides, decoration has been applied under the glaze in iron oxide with a little white engobe...

Very rare lacquered wooden box, inlay of the "hundred precious items" type. The decoration represents sages and animals in a landscape, antiquity and friezes of stylized dragons. Ca. late Ming Dynasty, 1600-1650

This square form wine cup is lined with silver with a silver rim, now darkened from tarnish. The sides and foot are lacquered black and inlaid with abalone mother of pearl. The sides of the cup flare outward from the square foot and each displays a stylized scene of rocks, people and seascapes. There are some minor age cracks to the lacquer and a few pearl losses. The exterior base is unlacquered and appears to be metal – probably lead.

This marked bowl is one of 2 bowls which do come from an old German colletion. The condition of the glaze of the bowl is so perfect and glossy that it simply is impossible that this bowl an excavated piece. Well potted lobed form. The cobalt blue and the representation of the decoration of a Crane is extraordinary nice. Hongzhi - Zhengde Period, Jingdezhen ware. Cylinder shaped (hanzutsu) tea bowl made of light, fine, unrefined Mino clay. Shape and style (note the trimmed walls) make it appear contemporary with the late Oribe bowls.

The expertly thrown body is covered with the typical white, feldspatic Shino glaze has been poured under which a decoration of a willow tree (yanagi) and a fence have been applied in iron oxide (oni ita).
