This cast metal figure of a farm girl is an early 20th century (late Meiji) product. It depicts a bare footed farm girl carrying a large basket on her shoulder. It is 11 ¼” high and 4 1/8” in diameter at the base. The tip of the small stick she holds in her left hand is broken off. Aside from this, it is in very good condition.

Carved in fine detail is this deep red cinnabar box of a scholar with young boy in a garden setting. Made in the traditional method of applying many layers of cinnabar red lacquer, the carvings are deep and well executed. The inside and bottom of this box are black lacquer. DESCRIPTION: A handsome scholar's calligraphy brush, crafted from a wood shaft that has been beautifully lacquered in a swirling, wave-like pattern of red and black lacquer. The lacquer shaft is connected to the natural bristle brush by a bulbous wood ferrule. One of the four treasures of the scholar’s studio, this striking scholar’s brush would have made an attractive companion to a fine brush pot. Antique Japanese archaic bronze vase, with geometric imagery incised into the outer body, cloisonné taotie motifs in blue, green, red, and white enamel along upper section, long medallion motifs with enamel along the lowermost section. Old, natural patina with signature on base.

A dark blue hemp fabric forms the base of these kote sleeve guards. The upper area is covered in iron chain mail with pair of double gourd plates, crest mon, gilt iron plates, throughout the kote. This porcelain match holder was produced in Germany before 1920. There is no maker's mark on the bottom, only impressed numbers. We think it may have been produced by Schaffer & Vater. Heubach also produced similar types of jasperware. The match holder is pierced to be mounted on the wall. The decoration is white slip over light green ground in a Wedgwood style decoration. These were carved in the 60s through the 80s, and each cross consists of three pieces, meaning they will have to be remounted in would or metal. Fabulous chunky 18K and diamond-studded lover's knot ring hallmarked London, 1919. Unusual knot ring with three gold diamond-shaped squares superimposed along the knot band and table-cut diamonds embedded securely within the incised stars on each square. The figural knot can be seen on the underside of the ring and is almost as beautiful as the front. The ring is a US size 8 and can be sized.
