A rare antique Pre-Columbian Jama-Coaque 300 B.C. - 400 A.D. ceramic amulet in the form of a standing nude male figure with an erect phallus. These types of amulets were associated with the male sex's power and fertility. The object has a hole at the temple for suspension.

A Rare and Fine Early White Porcelain Wine Bottle: Korea, early Joseon period, 15th century This small, charming and well portioned bottle applied with a clear blusih white glaze overall the surfaces including the bottom, the foot rim has some sand adhered. It’s in good condition but a small part of the rim repaired. Measurements; 11.7cm x 9cm (4.5” x 3.5”).

A striking and nicely painted oil on canvas pair of American portraits. The sitters (by family repute) are Hendrick Henry Lasher (1788 - 1843) and Hannah Sharp (1793 - 1851) of New York.

Painted in a straightforward, stark style, the artist has deftly used dark tones for the clothing the background, focusing the light and the viewer's attention on the faces.

Exceptionally elegant red vermillion lacquered zen buddhist temple sutra table in its original signed and dated box. Dated Keio gannen 8 (c.1865) the tapered legs and metal fittings on the table top indicate this was made for a rich temple. 37cm tall and 53cm wide the very top is in its own cotton wrapping. Rare Pair of Early Meiji Period Large Inu Gosho Ningyo, Japanese Dog Dolls made of lacquered papier mache. Most known examples are 3 to 5 inches in height. Chin Dogs were part of the Imperial court for centuries. They are wearing Imperial lacquered bibs, and are constructed in the manner of Gosho Ningyo. 10 inches (25.5cm) high.

A small underglaze blue decorated stem dish painted inside with three 17th/18th Centuty style cranes and outside with three bats. The stem is decorated with buddhist knots and stylized plantain leaves. To the inside of the base is the four character mark of the Kangxi emperor (1662-1722) but this item was probably made later, during the 19th Century. Condition - there are two repairs to the rim, each with an associated short hairline. No further damages or restoration...

Well crafted Chinese famille rose mandarin enameled porcelain bowl ca.1770's. Size, diameter: Diameter of bow is about 8 inches or 19.5 x height: 8.5 cm. Budai is the Chinese "Père Noël" ,the Japanese calls him Hoteï. He carries toys in a big bag and distributes them to children who adore him and are sometimes represented at his side. The god is seated, his half-open robe reveals his large belly, a symbol of his generosity. He holds his rosary in his hand. Oddly enough his big bag is missing. It is sculpted from a beige steatite ( soap stone) stained with pink, on the skull appear red veins of the stone...

Very elegant porcelain vase from the Fukugawa kilns. The decoration of cranes in flight, a symbol of fidelity and courage, among clouds, adorns the entire perimeter of this vase in enamels of different colors above crashing waves. Signed under the Fukugawa base under a Mount Fuji. Very slight crack, barely visible.Height: 15 cm

Very attractive Victorian lacquered papier-mache soap box decorated with a japonaise design. The sides show laborers pulling a boat filled with partiers along a canal. The lid shows a kneeling maiden tending her flower garden in a classic Japanese garden. The lid is also decorated with the soap maker's logo. Japanese styled items were very popular in France from around 1870 until the end of the century.

This is a small unusual Japanese Porcelain vase. It has is a textured totai like ground with moriage flowers and leaves. The plant appears to be a water lily. The vase stands 3 1/4 inches tall and in 3 inches wide. It is in excellent condition. The vase is signed Bizan Zo.
