A good Arta dish of awabigata form decorated in somenishikide style with a pattern of various shellfish and plants with a seascape of waves and plovers above. A brocade band of Karakusa scroll in iron red and gilt inset in a “pea green” enamel ground framing the composition combined with gilding to rim. The exterior painted with waves and boats...

Japanese iron tea kettle, or tetsubin, all hand-cast iron with landscape scenes of oceanside cottages around the body. The handle is inlaid with two silver birds and held into place by a pair of iron chimera on each end. The bronze lid is signed underneath, and the backside of the iron body has a 4 character artist's cartouche.

Taisho Period (1912-1926) Gold and Black Lacquer Obento Lunch Box/Picnic Box filled with symbolism of eternal love. The deer and crane are symbols of longevity, and when they are paired they are symbols of eternal love. The pine tree is also a symbol of longevity. The pastoral scenes and gold flowers are beautifully rendered in gold lacquer on black lacquer. The handle is in the form of a pair of dragons. 14w x 12h x 7d inches, 35.5w x 30.5h x 18d inches.

A intricately done Chinese fencai with motif of dragons scrolling vines, and peonies. Fine brushes made from different materials with caps to cover the tip were often part of a scholar literati's desk and were called the four treasures of the scholar's studio. The end of the brush contains a seal script mark, reading Da qing Jiaqing nian xing. Age: 19th-20th century Size: length 19" diameter 0.3"

Dramatic pair of large Chinese porcelain baluster form vases with green dragons, light green dragons on one side, dark green dragons on the other, a band of scrolling vines at the base, the necks are decorated with bats and clouds, the rim with birds and flowers, each has two blue dragon handles, Dao Guang 19th century. 1930's Chinese Moss Agate Carved Libation Cup with Wood Stand

The cup is 4 inches (10.2 cm) long by 2.6 inches (6.7 cm) wide by 1.85 inches (4.7 cm) tall. The base is 1.22 inches (3.1 cm) tall by 3.11 inches (7.9 cm) long by 2 inches (5.3 cm) wide. The cup weight 74.1 gram, and the base is 32.4 gram.

It has inclusions and surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos).

Chinese carved Ivory old scholar Toggle, with gentle happy smile in his face, Ca. 1800's, 3 1/8" high, 1 3/8" x 1 1/4" wide, nicely naturally aged with hairline and old patina. The condition is good.

A fine specimen of a Danish Neolithic Battle Mace, dating to Single Grave Period - c. 2800-2400 B.C.

The mace is carved from hardstone with an elliptical body. In the center a furrow - approx. 0,5 deep and 1 cm. wide - is carved, to make a secure fastening of the mace to the wooden shaft.

Size: 11 x 5 x 6 cm - weighing 720 gr.

Condition: A choice mace with very few imperfections. Nice patination.

Large Chinese embroidered silk badge of a three toed dragon. The 3-toed dragon is the symbol of government ministers and public officials. This piece could have been from a wall hanging or off of a room screen. Color of badge is even; glare from the glass is making it look darker or lighter in areas. This badge measures 20.5" high and was placed on a cream colored closely cropped brushed velvet material, then framed. Framed measurements are: 26.5" wide x 33" high.

Chinese carved white jade with orange coloration areas, in the form of a bunch of lingzhi mushroom sprigs. The lingzhi symbolizes good health and longevity, as depicted in the imperial Forbidden City and Summer Palace. It is a talisman for luck in traditional Chinese culture, and the goddess Guanyin is sometimes depicted holding a lingzhi sprig. Provenance: Howard Caplain Estate

A very unusual octagonal dish in new style enamels dating to around the year 1800, featuring three figures, the main of which is a figure wearing a buttoned jacket and perhaps a klapmut style hat with distinctive slops, which identifies him as a seaman, rather than the more usual merchant; see last image no 6 a late 18th century print of a Sailor in “slops”. The tight curls of his hair betray his foreign origin, although he retains an overall oriental appearance...

Ewer with a baluster shaped body, rising from a short straight foot, tapering inwards to its shoulders onto a waisted neck and a flaring mouth with an applied strap handle, opposite a long curved spout...

Height approximately 23 cm. There are few cracks at the body.

Exquisite Pre-Columbian stirrup vessel depicting Two Jaguars, an adult and cub, 500 BC–500 AD, 8" H x 10.5 ; Vicus, Peru. This piece appears in "Pre-Columbian Art" by Alan Lapiner, in color on page 186. Its broad grin is reminiscent of the characters in Maurice Sendak's book "Where the Wild Things Are." It has been reassembled from approximately 5 pieces, with the cracks filled in.

St. Anthony of Padua is perhaps one of the most loved and admired saints in the Catholic Church. Born in Portugal in 1195, he was a Portuguese Catholic priest and friar of the Franciscan Order who later did much of his work in Italy. Here St. Anthony is dressed in a brown friar's habit with head tilted to one side, gently holding the Christ Child in his arms...

Japanese antique samurai kura horse saddle. Carved of wood and lacquered with a fan motif in gold makie lacquer on a nashiji ground with inlay shell design on the maewa (front arched plate) as well as the shizuwa (rear arched plate). The maewa and shizuwa are connected by two igi (contoured side bands) which are decorated with shell inlay on a black lacquer ground...

Found in the Philippines. This ewer is in the shape of the sacred goose hamsa, a symbol of purity and divine knowledge for Hindu and Buddhist believers...

A bowl, originally a finger bowl, and three small ”ladies” wine glasses, the bowl c. 1840, the glasses Napoléon III c. 1860-80. All in the bleu céleste colour en vogue in France in the 19th century and all with the same “bubbly” texture. The glasses with polished pontil marks. Height of bowl "3¼/8,5 cm, diameter "4½/ 11 cm, height of glasses "3¼/ 8,5 cm. Condition: fine.
