It was made from hand corded plant fiber,tied into a series of knots to form a shallow sack.
Originally there would have been a fabric shoulder strap which would have been tied around the loops on either side of the top of the bag...
The front of the bag is decorated with a traditional silver ornament depicting a butterfly.
The bag is in tact: no holes, or rips but is dirty from use and age....

Unusual 19th century Japanese carved wooden head of rakan - one of the 16 (sometimes the number is given as 18) initial disciples of the historical Buddha.. Was carved and, judging by patina, most probably used, as the top of a votive statue. Wonderfully captured facial expression, beautiful patina. The bottom of the post is branded with the mark of the workshop where the piece was carved. Height 3.71 inches.

This is a fantastic pottery tile from the Han Dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD) with a heavy relief of a musician. This tile is in excellent condition and shows no signs of repair or restoration. It measures roughly 24 cm square and is roughly 4 cm thick. It weighs an impressive 7 pounds. This is a spectacular specimen of ancient Asian artwork suitable for any museum or high end private collection.

Japanese green studio crackle ware vase with applied silver floral motifs. With tomobako. The foot is signed Shofu Katei (1870-1928). Small wear losses.
Shofu Katei was born in 1870 in Seto, Japan. He later moved to Kyoto where has was adopted into the prestigious Shofu family kiln to create Japanese ceramics. In 1908, he set up the Shofu Ceramics Company, Ltd. and was awarded a Green Ribbon in 1915.

Lovely small meiping from Northern China, circa 1000CE- possibly Liao.. I have repaired it with epoxy and 23k gold leaf (wabi sabi kintsugi). This is a high fired gray stoneware dipped in a white slip and then fired with translucent overglaze. Condition as is, attractive wood stand included. :11.8cm/4.7cm and D: 7.2cm/2.9in.
Rare Seljuk bronze key with an eagle standing on the back of a rooster while pecking at the head of its prey. The rooster has a small crest and protruding eyes.
Birds play an important role in the Seljuk decorative repertoire, and in this case they probably evoke a demonstration of power.

Burmese puppet head was mainly used in the puppet show. The string on top of the head can be pulled up to slide the tongue in and out of puppet's mouth. Due to the heavily used of puppets, the body and costumes are no longer survived.

A extremely rare Southern Song ( 1127 – 1279 ) Guan ware, Guanyao washer. The well potted body in a very nice shape covered with a grayish-sea-green glaze with a highly attractive crackle. The light grey ware burnt brown in the firing. Guan´, the official ware of the southern Song court, is perhaps the most admired and desirable of all Chinese ceramics.
This rare washer is probably an excavated piece.

Mogollon/Tularosa ca. 1200 to 1300 ad, black on white pitcher with a double effigy handle (clay animal effigy handle with a human figure painted on it, all original) Tularosa is a time period of 100 years that was used by many different tribes from New Mexico to Arizona.
