This antique carved wooden temple Buddha retains much of his original gilded paint. He sits on a tall base covered with the old Mon Khmer script which had been formed by scratching through the golden paint. The Buddha's head is topped with a stupa-shaped "flame" called usnisa, which symbolizes the realization of Nirvana. Perhaps that explains the soft smile and meditative expression on his face...

This very well carved and rare Japanese ivory okimono is a mid-19th century product. It is 10 ¾” high, 3″ wide and 2 1/4″ thick both measured from the bottom. It depicts a fisherman sitting on a wood stool with his tool box on his side. He is repairing his broken fish net which is hanging on a tall pole. Rare blue sharkskin porcelain tea caddy with a bird, flowers, and butterflies. The bird and butterflies are glossy and do not have the sharkskin texture giving this piece a beautiful contrast which was not an easy feat for the artist to achieve. The blue background graduates from light at the bottom to darker shade of light blue at the top. Signed and in excellent condition, it measures 6 inches tall with lid on.

A subtle bisque figure of Kwan Yin done by the Rengetsu studio. A seal and signature is found on the back of the statue. Statue comes with a box with the inscription stating: Byakue Kannon (white robed Kwan yin) Rengetsu zo ( Produced by Rengetsu) Age: Late 19th century -early 20th century. This Sui Dynasty (581~618) yellow burial horse is 10 1/2” high, 11 ¾” long and 5 ¾” wide. It depicts a battle horse wearing a leather saddle and a draped saddle cloth. Aside from an old repair on the tail and part of the neck, it is in great condition.

Antique Chinese small porcelain water coupe. Painted with intricate and colorful scenes of a mountain landscape. Figures look out the windows of waterside huts while men fish from boats. This is Rikushaku-kanban where cotton cloth spun by hand for Edo period was used for. This cotton has the good feel. As for this, a crest is a letter of Kotobuki. The letter of Kotobuki expresses words and a ceremony of the celebration. A letter and the pattern of the cross filler are dyed in Tsutsugaki. This has a stain in several places. This is a humorous Japanese sake cup. The drinker would find that he has drunk from the face of Okame while others would see the other side of the cup with oni's (ogre) face and would have a laugh.
