A nicely decorated document box featuring red and black grain painting, the edges with yellow and green striping.

The box is 13 1/4 inches in length, 7 1/4 inches in depth, and 6 1/2 inches tall. Overall condition is excellent, with no cracks or breaks, and virtually all of the original, unrestored paint is present. The lock and hinges are original and in fine shape. There is the normal amount of wear along some of the box edges.

English George III snuff box fashioned from horn and with a tortoiseshell veneer on the cover. Circa 1790-1810. The cover is also inlaid with a floral design in silver and gold. Chip to one corner of cover (see photo detail); hinge is firm and carved from the horn, with a snug fit to the lid. Size: 3" long x 1.5" deep x .75" high.

18th century kokutan (ebony) netsuke of a shishi (Buddhist lion) crouching by rockery. Strong early carving, nicely captured playful attitude of the beast, unusual raised umbrella-like bushy tail. Large deep himotoshi, great patina with characteristic ebony sheen. Length 1 7/16 inches.

Of rectangular form with sliding lid. The top and reverse differently carved with the rose and nightingale "gul-u-bulbul" motif. The undecorated mirror is not fixed. Condition: few traces of usage, the mirror glass with some imperfections. Dimension: 19.3 cm x 12.8 cm, weight: 324 g.

A beautiful glass vase with 'chariot decor', made most likely by Moser. The vase is 8 1/4 inches (21 cm) tall and 6 inches (15 cm) wide at the top. It is in good condition (some flea-bites at bottom-rim from usage). The vase is artist-signed, Brandt'. Unsigned, but made most likely by Moser - usage of gold and platinum in the decor is a particular Moser trait.

This Taino engraved bone pendant has spectacular patina showing off its antiquity. It is 3 1/4" long. The holes are correct. The skull depiction is mesmerizing.

A good Yuan dynasty blue and white peony jar with two ears, rounded side with globular body and un glazed base, jat decorated with under glaze blue of fine drawing vertical peony and chrysanthemum flower motif divided with beaded motif, covered with white glaze.

This is a Japanese antique indigo dye and Bengala dye hemp-Umakake Tsutsugaki-type dyeing. A very impressive and charming pattern of wheel crests, treasure balls and checkers. An intricately hand carved wooden opium den lamp in the shape of a chair. The carving on the front bottom panel is a scene with 3 people. The central character seated at a table appears to be of the scholar class. The brackets on each side have a guardian figure. Very decorative dish decorated in underglaze blue and polychrome enamels in the style of kakiemon palette of rocks and flowers on the front and dragons on the reverse. Period: 19th century. Diameter : 31,5 cm.

A large Kakiemon dish decorated with the Three Friends of Winter to the rim and a central motif of a Peony. The reverse decorated with a continuous lotus scroll and a spiral fuku in a double square. The dish dates to the late seventeenth century circa 1680-1700. The dish measures approximately 25 cm in diameter and stands 6cm high. Antique Himalayan tsha tsha (small votive plaque) depicting a red bodhisattva seated on a lotus throne. Tsha Tsha were cast of clay mixed with ground incense and sacred ash. They were dried in the sun and painted with polychrome pigments. Small votives like this one were left as offerings at spiritual sites along a pilgrim's route.

A pair of two different paintings depicting different views of people either engaged in different activities. One scene appears to show a soldier like figure coming back or meeting a lady and another scene is depicting a family at leisure. Particular elements have elements similar to Chinese theatrical costuming and designs. The techniques are more Western since these works were made in Guangzhou in the Canton concessions. A small thinly potted wine or tea cup delicately painted in shades of underglaze blue with traditional Chinese landscape scenes. The cup is bound with a metal (copper) rim, apparently made to cover a burst glaze bubble. On the base is a four character shop mark which reads "Shun Li Kun Ji". The makers mark was in use during the late Qing / early Republic period so we assume that this item was made during the late 19th or early 20th Century. Condition - very good - no damages and no restoration...

Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Horse (AD 618 - 906)

This attractive pottery model of a horse was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is made from a buff-coloured pottery that has been "cold painted" in white and reddish-brown pigments. This horse is well-modelled and stands upright and alert.

Antique marquise shaped 18K gold and chrysoberyl ring is an excellent example of Portuguese jewelry of the late 18th century. The Portuguese mined these gemstones from their colony in Brazil and created jewelry that was typically pave-set as seen here. The ring is size 10 and can be sized to fit.

This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in France by a Paris Porcelain decorator circa 1800. It is unmarked but there are some incised marks in the porcelain that you often find with Paris pieces. The saucer has a diameter of 5 1/8 inches and it is 1 1/2 inches deep. The cup is 2 1/2 inches high. The set is decorated in the Sevres style. It has a band of pink and aqua with borders of leaves, berries and gilded flowers...
