An Arita abalone (Mother of Pearl) shaped dish painted in somenishikide style with a stylised landscape of Mountainous Islands, a shoreline with rocky outcrops with various trees including Pine, flowers and grasses with a rather peculiar and precarious structure in the foreground seemingly lacking several posts in its construction. The reverse decorated with landscape vignettes to the reverse and a six character mark for the Chinese Emperor Qianlong...

Fine cowrie shell necklace from northwest Burma, probably Naga on a hand woven macramé cotton cord. This is an old set, circa 80 years with an excellent worn natural patina and almost porcelain like surface these need to be handled to be appreciated. Please note that each bead is hand carved to nest into the other so when strung together and worn the necklace hangs in a circular fashion...

Beni-itajime-zome (board-clamped dyeing with safflower) han-juban (short under kimono). The body part is hand-spun cotton and the sleeves are figured silk and the wrist parts are wool muslin. In good condition but the dirty line in the neck, rips in the front sleeve and some moth holes in the wrists. Late 19th to early 20th century. 125cm x 66cm

A German 1820's cabinet cup and saucer with burnished and matte gilt decoration of Karl Friedrich Schinkel’s new theater building in Berlin, inaugurated in 1821 and nowadays concert hall. Inscribed “Das neue Schauspielhaus in Berlin”. Height "4½/ 11 cm. Condition: rubbing to the gilt on the saucer and inside the cup (cf. pics.).

Unusual tile of a seated man in a flat cap holding a fishing pole while his wife in a bonnet cap seated beside him looks at him. A charming scene. The tile has tapered sides.5 ¼ inches (13.5 cm) square. ½ inches (1.5 cm thick).

Condition; major old restoration to the upper left corner, similar restoration along the right edge in the column and other very minor chips.

I think this is a fairly rare format with the columns and arch. The figures have a certain humor and art.

Large ovate hand axe made of a flake of tan quartzite. Bifacial tool with carefully worked front side. The rougher back side with fewer removals. The continuous cutting edge weathered by sand and wind action.
This type of tool stands for the presence of Palaeolithic populations in North Africa.

Four hand painted blue and white Dutch delft tiles joined with grout on a soft board in the manner in which they would have appeared on a wall. Roughly 10 ¼ x 10 ½ inches (26 x 27 cm). Minor damage at the edges.

A 13 5/8 inch (34.5 cm) diameter blue and white delft charger with Chinese style decoration in the center depicting a rock with flowers on a ground with other plants. Crossing lines with dots between, surround the well and also on the outer edge of the lip. Dutch 18th century.

Condition: a fair bit of wear to the glaze, a chip on the rim with glaze losses and other smaller losses around the rim.

Very fine, unusually small Tang image of a courtier, excellent condition with complete original pigments. Lovely face with calm and dignified expression. H: 17cm/6.8in

A Japanese Arita deep dish, early 19th century. The dish is decorated with Ho-o birds and branches of flowering paulownia. The back with clouds and bats and a single spur mark. The Dutch refer to this palette of red and gold on white porcelain as ‘Milk & Blood’.

There is the remains of a collectors mark on the back

A French footed cabinet cup and saucer with painted decoration, the cup with a fox, the saucer with a rocky landscape. Marks for Flamen-Fleury, Paris, 1820-35. Height 4”/10 cm, diam. of saucer 5 ¼”/13,5 cm. Condition: Fine, except for some rubbing to gilding, esp. inside the cup.

Silk crepe cloth with beautiful embroidery of wisteria motif which is one of the long sleeves (furisode). The ground cloth is white silk crepe (chirimen) and the embroidery threads are vegetable dye. It has kata-kanoko (stencil-dye pattern) imitating small shibori pattern named kanoko shibori. In excellent condition except for a light brownish line in the center. Beautiful and rare opium scale in its box made of wood lacquered in black with a design showing a red cross.The scale is made of bronze and complete. Burma, 19th century. Length of the box: 16,7 cm. Obvious signs of wear due to age, otherwise very good condition. NOTE: the piece was collected in 1974 in the North of Thailand by its former owner. 18th century small votive Indian bronze sculpture cast in Karnataka state representing Bhudevi with bare breasts and closed blue lotus (nilotpala) in her hand. Bhudevi is the consort of Lord Vishnu and personifies the Earth...

An English creamware plate with a molded edge that was exported Holland and decorated there with over glaze enamels. The plate almost certainly depicts the son of William V, Prince of Orange. The sone would become William I of the Netherlands. Born in 1772, he would be the, “Jong Prins” as inscribed in black on the plate. Interestingly the face has been left unfinished. The boy faces an orange tree with fruit on it and a couple of them on the ground...

An amber colored vase with an etched and gilt “Oroplastic” frieze of Amazon warriors, the base facet cut. The Oroplastic decoration method was introduced by the Moser glass company around 1915. It became a great success, totally in line with the emerging Art Deco style. Signed Made in Czechoslovakia Moser Karlsbad. Height "3 ¾ / 9.5 cm. Condition: fine.

A genuine Bronze Opium Weight of a Mystical HINTHA Bird, 18th Century, Burma. Octagon base. Size: 50 mm. Weight: approx. 155 gr

Brooch / pin made of ivory or horn, engraved and painted with a pair of auspicious birds, magpies, in a pine tree, accompanied by a poem in minuscule calligraphy. China, c 1900. Width "1 ½ / 3.8 cm. Condition: fine.

Folk Art Duck Decoy hand carved from wood with yellow eye created from a thumb tack, 19th century. The bird is painted black with white highlights and a grey bill. It has a leather strap on the base for pulling the decoy in the water.
CONDITION: signs of wear on leather and on the base of the decoy, as well as paint chip on the bill, hole behind the strap. The yellow thumb tack is probably a later replacement.
MEASUREMENTS: Total length: 14 ¾ inches.

Tall Eboshi-shaped fire hood for a samurai, made of hand-spun cotton, both outside and inside, and dyed with vegetable indigo. In Edo period, the town of Edo often suffered from massive fires, so that "machi hikeshi" by town people as well as "samurai hikeshi" were organized. This hood was worn by a samurai together with samurai fire costume when the fire broke out. In good condition except for slight dirt in the top part. The piping is silk. 19th century. W:53cm, L:69cm

A seal made of bronze, decorated in relief with one of the eight Buddhist symbols -- the Two Fish --- on its top, and the Buddhist Banner around its body, and finally with one of the eight Buddhist symbols --- the Eternal Knot --- beneath. Leather cord. Fine reddish-green patina. Tibet, 18th century. Height: 51 mm. Very good condition.

Cloisonné enamel charger or large dish with flowers and a flying bird against a mustard yellow ground, the back with a swirl pattern. Late Meiji or early Taisho, c 1900. Diameter "12/ 30.3 cm, height "1 ½ / 3.7 cm. Condition: a damage to the backside enameling (c f last photo). Interestingly, it shows the kind of marker used to indicate the design where the cloisonné metal straps were to be soldered onto the base. A shaped rectangular dark blue ground dish with extensive gilding. Birds on the four edges and moths in the corners are painted in conjunction with the gilding. Though unmarked it is typical of Mason’s of the period around 1825. 9 ½ inches (24 cm) length, 8 inches (20 cm), 13/4 inches (4.5 cm) tall.

Condition: No chips cracks hairlines or repairs. Some gilding wear in the well on the right hand rose toward the edge and some wear through the gilding to the blue ground below at different p...

Rice bag made of fragments of hand-spun cotton with stripes, katazome (stencil-resist-dye) and checks, all vegetable indigo and brown dye. The cord is cotton. Kome-bukuro was used when people dedicated rice to temples or shrines. In excellent condition except for several mending. The first half of the 20th century. W:44cm, H:33cm

Small footed cup with modelled handle and decoration of flower sprigs. For the iced sorbet between servings, 1770's. Unmarked, but probably by the Rue Thiroux/Porcelaine à la Reine factory. Height: 2 ½”/6,5 cm. Condition: fine.

A pair of Milchglas / milk glass cups and saucers with flower decoration in gaudy enamels, made around 1760. Relief moulded wth ribbed and diamond-patterned sides and applied foot rims. The model is to be found in the Corning glass museum collections and elsewhere as originating from the glassworks of Flühli in Swiss Luzern. Diameter of saucers "5 ¼ / 13 cm, of cups "3 ¼/ 8 cm. Condition: one cup with old and yellowed glue repair (cf. pics).

Old tribal necklace, made of old glass beads of various colours with a bronze ornament in the shape of a double fish tail. North East India, Naga ethnic group. Length: around 34 cm. Very good condition. Provenance: 1) old European collection, 2) auction sale.

19th century small porcelain netsuke of standing Ebisu - one of the 7 Gods of Good Fortune, that of fishing and luck. Clever modeling reminiscent of ittobori (one cut) wood carving style, nice wear and patina. Height 1.4 inches.

Chinese teapoy, urn-shaped with scrollwork around the base. European style decoration in Famille rose enamels, Qianlong, c 1750. Height: 4 3/4" / 12 cm. Condition: lid: restuck and a chip inside rim, urn: unprofessional restoration to rim.

19th century Japanese scroll in ink and colors on silk depicting a woman beating a piece of clothing with a mallet by an old bamboo fence. Beautiful work perfectly capturing the essence of the scene, elegant composition, subtle use of color. Signature appears to read SOTANI and is followed by 2 red seals of the artist. Silk brocade mounts, rosewood scroll ends, excellent painting for use during tea ceremony. Painting size 10.25 x 7.75 inches, scroll size 36 x 9.75 inches.
