A perfectly matching pair of Chinese QIANLONG blue & white hand painted tea bowls with scalloped edges. The exterior depicts chrysanthemum and prunus flowers, whereas the inside of the bowl has a single flower in the well and a fine diaper border around the rim. Condition: both have rim frits, one bowl has a nick on the rim while the other has a minor firing crack between the chrysanthemum and the prunus blossoms. Size: 3" (7.5 cm.) diameter x H. 1 3/4" (4.2 cm.)...

This is the sung dynasty twin fish celadon brush washer saucer, it has the typical crackle of Quan type glaze feel/colour and base but i eered the possibility of it being Quan Yao washer but rather the Longquan yao's. It is nice rare piece but has chip of the foot rim.....Matish feel on glaze caused by sea water corossion

This is a copper alloy dagger or short sword. It has an interesting patina consisting primarily of light to medium green tones (likely malachite) mottled with red and reddish brown areas (likely copper oxides). There are areas where the deep brown, lightly corroded base metal is still visible and somewhat lustrous. The entire hilt, including the crescent-shaped pommel, is bordered by a thick and even ridge which would have served to contain the grip scales made of bone, wood, or ivory...

From our European Collection, a very fine and elegant Victorian era marquetry inlaid credenza, late 19th century circa 1865-1890. This beautiful piece is dark walnut inlaid in stylized foliate strapwork design, using a softer and lighter colored wood for the inlay material that is most likely either tulipwood or fruitwood. The piece is adorned with wonderful gilt bronze castings on the columns and base area that are essentially artwork unto themselves...

Due to the age of the calligraphy, and the vagueres of the old Chinese language, accurate translations have not been possible for each sign. Each sign is carved out of wood with raised wooden characters and inlayed with MOP flakes. Each is 21 inches tall and roughly 4.5 inches wide. this old set of books was originally held together into a single volume with a cover.. The cover is now clearly falling apart and the books are all tied together with a leather cord probably done sometime in the 50's. Each volume covers a different aspect of law...civil, criminal etc... There is a very faded red seal on the front page...the photo of the seal has been enhanced to hopefully make it more readable... Lots of Chinese characters used throughout the text...

Very small double side zushi with inside the images of the Buddha Amida Nyorai and on the other side a Bodhisattva holding a covered jar. All doors painted with lotus flowers in water on a golden back ground. The zushi itself made of kiri-wood (Paulownia), which is known and used for its fire resisting qualities. Very special piece. Japan, Edo period, 18th century.

This is an 18th or 19th century Chinese brown glazed and carved porcelain brush holder (Bitong) signed by “Wang Bing Rong” who is considered one of the best porcelain carvers of that period. His dates are somewhat confusing. Some records say he was born in 1736 and died in 1795. Other records have him living from 1862 to 1908. This small antique Chinese wooden storage container was used for calligraphy implements. Inksticks would have been held in the rear center compartment. Calligraphy brushes would have been held upright on the right and left side compartments. Seals or chops would have been stored in the lidded section. Originally painted with black lacquer, this piece has great age and wear patina.

With compressed globular body rising to a tall neck and flared rim, covered overall, and on the base, with an unctuous glaze of green tone, the foot rim left unglazed exposing the red burn. Southern Song Dynasty (1127–1279) Dimension : (9.5 cm.) high, 11 cm wide Condition : perfect, no chips, cracks, or hairlines and free from restorations.

This vase has been repaired at the upper part. 20cm high.

this old wooden storage box was clearly made in a folk art tradition by or for a lower ranking individual, possibly a traveling scribe, or low ranking official. Fully opened, it has compartments for brushes, ink sticks, chops and seals, etc. The numerous splotches of old ink stains on the outside of the box indicate extensive use, under not the tidiest of circumstances. Sourced in southern China year back, it is the only box of this style that I have ever seen...

This is an old Chinese inkstone has hand carved ox with head turned toward the natural "dragon's eye" moon. There are some chips along the edges of the ink stone and areas of natural inclusions. It is a very fine grain quality stone, dating to the early 1800's and measures 6 x 4.5 inches, and a bit over .5 inches thick.
