A large Saxon (German) hunting glass with a thistle bowl, beautifully engraved with a castle, a mounted horseman, 4 dogs, and two geese and with a facet cut lower section. The stem is facet cut with a large facet cut stepped angular knop. Folded foot.

Despite what it might seem in the poor photos, the glass is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, clouding, or restoration. The height is 8 1/4", with a bowl diameter of 3 1/8" and a foot diameter of 3 5/8".

A fabulous example exploring the various traits of traditional Shigaraki pottery with a thick swath of glaze covering one side, telltale feldspathic inclusions bursting from the raw clay opposite. A Chinese celadon-glazed porcelain vase with shape of an ancient cong, decorated with eight trigrams (bagua) on all four sides of the vase. A six-characters "Daqing Tongzhi Nianzhi" mark is inside the foot rim, and of the period. There are two long kiln cracks between the foot rim and the body of the vase (see photos #5 and #6), and three very short kiln cracks on the body. This is his Tsutsugaki item, which is impressive with its very surreal pine and bamboo designs drawn in Tsutsugaki during the Edo period. The young pine tree in the center of the picture is drawn in an unbelievably large and surreal manner, and the bamboo, which is also impossibly deformed, is drawn in the background. This is quite an unconventional item among the indigo-dyed items of the Edo period...

Japanese tall armoire made all of kiri (paulownia) wood. This single section cabinet opens with two hinged cabinet doors. The interior has it's original metal rod for hanging clothes, a smaller metal rod on the right hand door and it's original small rectangular mirror. At the base is a single large drawer. Conservative design, with the only decoration being metal handles on the cabinet doors which are cut in a scrolling vine motif.
