A lovely and extremely rare type of Westerwald vessel with handle, Germany, c. late 16th.-early 17th. century.

The vessel decorated with fine gothic looking lions and rossettes as spacers with manganese blue.

Size: c. 22 cm. wide incl the handle and 14,3 cm tall.

Condition: Nice Very fine for the early type, completely intact but for a closed crack with short hairlines, just below the handle to the right. Never repaired and very stable and sound.

A Chinese Longquan glazed dish decorated with overlapping upright petals on the exterior wall. Southern Song Dynasty - 12th/13th century. The glaze is of grayish olive-green color, one side is darker than the other side on the exterior wall. The dish is in excellent antique condition with normal glaze scratches. Suna-Gohon (sand is added to the clay) tea ware was fired at the Japanese consular office in Busan in the early Edo period (1603-1868) and sent to the Tokugawa family and other daimyo. The kiln was closed in 1718.

A Han style (maybe of the period) white jade cicada in simple design and carved with clean lines showing superior craftsmanship. We date it Qing Dynasty or earlier, but it was probably from Han Dynasty. Condition: there are some calcification on the tip of the wings, which caused some tiny chips; some age veins on the lower part of the cicada (please see photo #4 and #5 for details). A very nice thinly potted porcelain dish. The underglaze decoration drawn by using a very nice cobalt blue shows a motive that is typical for the Chenghua period. Ming Dynasty, Chenghua period ( 1465 - 1487 ) Jingdezhen ware. Diameter : 13,8 cm. Condition : Actually perfect - there are 2 very minute chips to the rim but these chips are very old resp. most probably from the time when the dish was produced ( please have a look at the last 2 enlargements ) Nice " ping " tone when tapped.

Head of Citipati, made of embossed bronze with gilding on the front and red painting to enhance the eyes. Fine green patina in the recesses and on the back. The head is pierced on its top and lower side to allow not to be worn on a necklace that was used by a Tibetan lama or oracle particularly during the Cham ceremonies and dances. A hand thrown and painted hard paste porcelain punch bowl decorated on the outside with four bunches of roses and four groups of buds of roses around the outside under a wavy orange border on a tall foot. Hemp furoshiki with tsutsugaki tai (sea bream) and bamboo design, whose wefts and warps are hand plied. The family crest is Maruni-Katabami-Mon. Katabami is perennial plant, named oxalis. Hand-sewn but both hems are machine sewn. The sewing machine was already imported in late Edo period and probably it was used widely in Meiji period (1868∼1912).
