Lignum vitae seal box with screw thread, complete with lacquer seal and – most unusual – the corresponding agate intaglio ringstone with a family crest. Two lidded jars with Qingbai and Jizhou glazes and terra cotta playing pieces. Not Song Dynasty but all hand made. The brown jar Jizhou jar has some discoloration. This white “stones” are 180 and there are 176 of the darker ones. D: 12cm/4.8in and H: 8cm/3.1in.

A very large and impressive Neolithic period stamp seal, provenanced to Amüg-Ebene near Antioch in Western Mesopotamia / Eastern Anatolia, c. 6th. millenium BC of even earlier.

Rectangular seal of grey stone with a long ridged pierced handle and a grit pattern in the base.

Size: 40 mm. long and 23 mm. wide, c. 12 mm. tall.

Condition: Near VF, one corner chipped, lightly affecting the imprint...

A very attractive Byzantine or darkage bronze chest key approx 6th.-9th. century AD.

The key is finely made with a round bow and square decoration to the hollow stem.

An Arita Export porcelain dish decorated with a design based on a Ming Chinese Kraak plate. A pair of Ho-o birds amongst flowers and bursting pomegranates. Arita, circa 1690 - 1720. A similar dish is illustrated in the Shibata Collection, Kyushu Ceramic Museum, item 2495.

The border pattern shows a striking similarity to that used for V.O.C. orders produced at the Hikeoba and Sarugawa kilns. Circa 1680.

Nicely aged patinated Japanese old ivory letter opener or possibly a page turner with carved and dyed lizard making its way up the handle. The piece is 9.5 inches long and .5 inches wide. It is slightly doomed across the width and the "blade" section is sharpened on one side... Really a lovely piece.

Pair of Chinese export Canton tea caddies in hexagonal form, blue and white with traditional landscape and geometric banding, 6 carved feet, glazed bottoms, original lids. Measure 5" wide, 6 1/4" high and 3" deep, slight variation in sizes and shapes. Surface of caddies is slightly dimpled with the "orange peel" appearance to the glaze, all decoration in under glaze blue. Hexagon shape, with landscape scenes on front and back, hand painted with slight differences...

A Japanese bronze vase decorated with dragons and clouds. Meiji period, mid to late nineteenth century...

A lovely teal green blow glass hyacinth or bulb vase in the classic cone shape. The flared rim was intended to hold a hyacinth or other bulb just above the water line to root. Forcing bulbs was a popular Victorian pursuit and hyacinth vases were lovely adornments for kitchen and conservatory windows. The teal green is an unusual shade. The bottom has a sheared pontil.

A rare folding key, probably British, and late 18th/19th. century.

During the Qing Dynasty, the feathers of the kingfisher bird were used to create ornaments for woman to attach to clothing and/or wear in their hair... Six pearl handled luncheon knives with sterling silver ferules. The ferules are decorated with a classic scrolling vine motif. The French-style blades are unusually long in relation to the pearl handles--a proportion that gives this set a particularly elegant appeal. The blades are marked with a "12" designating the highest quality of 19th century American silverplate. Pearl handled knives are more frequently found in the larger dinner size.

This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in France in the late 19th century. We believe it was produced by a Paris manufacturer who used a faux Sevres mark on it. Elegant sterling silver large berry spoon in Whiting's wonderful 1896 "Dresden" pattern. The handle is completely covered on both sides with a complex floral pattern against a lightly stippled background. The bowl has scalloped edges and an elegant repousse pattern.
