Harpokrates is depicted with the sidelock of a child. The head is expertly modeled with wide, heavy-lidded eyes, a broad nose, and fleshy lips.
Harpokrates wears the Egyptian headdress with stripes and the threefold Atef-crown.

This pair of porcelain plates was produced in France by Haviland Limoges in 1905. The two marks indicate this period. They measure 9 1/8 inches in diameter. The molded border has a crimped edge creating a pattern around the rim. The 1 5/8 inch cobalt blue border is ornately gilded. It is hand painted by the Haviland artist S. Armand. This is a very fine and beautiful small famille rose tea pot. The design is that of a beautiful water scene of a very lively, detailed and bright orange-red goldfish swimming among green seaweeds. There are three goldfish on the cover and five on each side of the tea pot. The base has the seal mark of Tongzhi and is of that period.

It is in very good condition with no repair, cracks or chips...

An elegant and fine ink-stone (Shezhou, Anhui) made of carved, dark schist with minor, green-brown inclusions. One “eye.” Two small feet at top end. Fitted and finely carved lid of chicken wing wood (jichimu). The inscription reads: “A treasure from the Zhishi shanfang.” In a Japanese box from the 19th century (with full inscription). China: Qing, probably 18th cent. L 16,5 cm, W 11 cm. Condition: Excellent (small chip in ink-well).

Very large inro with 6 cases, black lacquer (roiro) applied with mother-of-pearl (aogaï) decoration of deer in light relief and a crescent moon in white metal (pewter or silver) inlaid. Early Edo period around 1700. The solid lacquer resisted well to impacts and the wear of time but the applications of extremely fine mother-of-pearl sheets are much worn or worn as can be seen in the photos. 155mm

Antique Tibetan hand-carved wooden deity mask of Mahakala, a guardian diety, the fierce and powerful being and counterpart to Kali / Mahakali. His name means "Greater than Time" as he upholds ultimate rule and power over all forces, including time and death. This hand carved mask is indeed very fierce looking, with signs of wear and traces of old lacquer all throughout. Some losses.

Description:

A Longquan Li-type censer was in golden-greenish glaze.
Well mold in good profile, the censer was supported by three slender feet.
It was preserved nicely except one portion of glazing imperfection was found on the side.
Foggy and introspective sheen was yielded on the surface due to long time of age.

Date: S. Song/Yuan periods, 12th/13th century.

Hallmark includes pattern no. 5050 (first produced in 1878) and director’s letter M (1873-91). Nice condition with deep period patina.

The expertly thrown body, heavily trimmed with a potters knife (hera) is covered with the typical, glossy black iron oxid glaze inside and outside. Obviously due to a lack of manganese here it is more a dark brown, which is rare to find on Oribe chawans...

Late 18th to early 19th century Japanese lacquer 5-compartment inro with a stunning design of a dragon!

It has a fantastic lacquer work called Maki-E. The inside is covered with precious Nashiji Gold Dust. This techique was only used for luxury items for the most famous Samurai fighter.

The material of the Netsuke and the string fastener (ojime) is Kotsu, a delicate work.

Very good condition with only little damages due to the high age...

Republic period, late 19th century, phoenix with yellow, pink, and green feathers. The feathers are beautifully detailed. The bird stands on one foot with the other raised close to it's body atop a rock formation. It measures 17" tall. Overall good condition with some loses.

Very large tile in the shape of (and virtually in the size of) a handscroll decorated in underglaze blue with a crashing wave and a full moon. The image is surrounded by borders of geometric flowers and medallions filled with a phoenix. Some of the phoenixes looks left, others look right...

Antique 17th century Chinese, Ming Dynasty, cast bronze and hand-chiseled incense burner (censer) with an elaborate rectangular body adorned with three bands.

The square-form censer is raised on four mask feet. The body is molded with archaistic bands of stylized dragons, lappets, and flower scrolls.
