This is a pair of stunning, carved wood panels from 19th century China. The panels depict several characters in very high relief. The carvings are dark stained wood and the backgrounds are painted red. The photographs certainly do not do justice to these beautiful pieces. They measure 61 cm in length and up to 16 cm in depth.

This porcelain charger was produced in Germany by the Helena Wolfsohn Dresden studio in the 1890s. It is 15” in diameter and 2” deep. It is molded in high relief with rococo decoration and framing the five reserves. Very nice Imperial Russian peacock blue pressed glass tea box. Glass tea caddies are difficult to find in this color. The design features fans, strawberry diamonds and Russian cane motifs. The box is bound with silverplated mountings and a lock. The box was almost certainly made by the “OtyM.F. Atelier”. Locked tea boxes were a holdover from earlier days when tea was a precious commodity that had to be kept safe from marauding servants.

A superb and large specimen of an Old Elamite / Mespotamian type of bronze battle axe, c. early 2nd. mill. BC.

The axe well-modelled, the blade flares outward in a spectacular curve, its edge delineated as a thinner border. Thick socket with two spikes on the back and decorated with concenthric rings. The socket looks like the open mouth of a beast when viewed horisontically.

A very rare massive bronze mace head, Neo-Assyrian Empire, c. 9th.-8th. cent. BC.

More massive in construction than the typical 2nd.-1st. millenium BC mace heads with the solid socket being 4,5 cm. wide. This is a fantastic example of an ancient bronze mace head. This piece was part of a large collection of bronze weapons from the middle East. There are four radial spike protruding from the head. The socket is hollow and slightly flared near the bottom. There is a perforation for attaching the socket to a shaft. This piece weighs 222 grams and measures just under 10 cm. Mace heads like this are very rare and quite desirable for collectors. This piece won't last long!!

A pair of icon fragments done on wood with extensive gold highlights. They are both from the same icon, which, I believe, depicted the Four Evangelists. The painting is of exceptional quality, as the photos will hopefully confirm. While I believe that they in fact date to the 17th century, I am conservatively dating them to the 19th or earlier. The panels measure 3-1/2" X 5-3/8" and 3-3/8" X 5-1/2", respectively. Rare and beautiful examples.

Extremely rare sterling silver oyster ladle in the 1900 "Buttercup" pattern by Gorham. Oyster ladles are very difficult to find because they were only included with the most complete services. They were used to serve oyster stews. Today, they could also be used for soups or even for punch. The back of the handle is marked with Gorham's old hallmark and also with the patent date, indicating that this is an early example.

This is a fine example of a plain bronze sword likely from Northwestern Iran, possible the Luristan culture. It dates to roughly 1000 BC. It measures an impressive 48 cm in length and weighs 356 grams. The only apparent damage is in what appears to be a broken tang. The break appears ancient as well. The rest of the sword is intact and stable. This is a good piece to add to your ancient weapon collection.

An extremely large, beautiful, and fine English wine glass, elegant in its simplicity. The bucket bowl sits above a stem of the double series opaque twist type, which has a pair of spiral threads outside of a central gauze.

This is a very unusual, decorated bronze axe head from Northern Iran. I have not seen an axe of this exact type before. It has a reddish brown patina that is typical of earlier bronze or copper age pieces. The overall design and decoration is quite unique as is obvious in the photos. This piece weighs 276 grams and measures nearly 12 cm across. Such an unusual piece will not last long so don't miss it!

This opposing pair of brush pots is decorated overall with a design of objects from a scholar's studio including vases, incense burners, table screens, etc. Identical inscriptions in black enamel on each make reference to antique vessels and end with an artist's seal in red enamel. The enamels are in good condition without cracks or damages, nor any restorations. The interiors are enameled throughout in turquoise. The bottoms have a somewhat uneven turquoise enameling.
