A Fine Pair of Large Chinese Ming Dynasty Painted Pottery Tiles - Deer

This fine-quality pair of highly decorative pottery tiles was made during the Ming Dynasty (AD 1368 - 1644). They are made from a grey pottery and the decoration in relief features a pair of deer in a landscape. Note the detail to the deer, the carved and incised decoration as well as the impressed flower blossoms to the deers' bodies...

A lovely depiction of Buddha enthroned, interesting early provincial SE Asian style, c. 15th.-17th. cent. AD.

The style is very attractive with a beautiful painted visage with serene features. The style looks mostly like provincial Thai, but we're not certain. The figure has much age and a fine dark gilt patina.

Dish decorated with rock and floral on the center and floral scroll on the exterior, glazed base. PERIOD : Early Ming (1400-1487 AD) MEASUREMENTS: 20 cm wide. CONDITION: good, with two frittings to the rim, no cracks, no hairlines and free from restorations.

Chinese Kangxi Period (1661-1722) Wucai Vase with Turtle

It is 5.5 inches (14 cm) tall by 2.3 inches (6 cm) wide. It is 0.5 Lb.

It has dark spots, skip glazes, rubbing gold and paint, and surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos).

Typically, the decoration relies heavily on the techniques of contemporary ink painters with attention to naturalistic detail and various wet brush effects. Chinese late Ming dynasty Wanli period porcelain kendi with a compressed globular body and mammiform spout decorated on the globular body in underglaze cobalt blue with flowers and scrolling foliage. Leafy peaches and ribboned lozenges decorate the spout and a band around the shoulder. The tubular neck, which flares to a wide disk shaped mouth, is painted with a stiff leaf band. A large and very beautiful 18th Century Shan State Brass Buddha subduing Mara. This type of Buddha was mostly made of wood, lacquer and papier maché, brass is indeed very seldomly found, thus rare. A pair of massive museum quality matching pottery figures of a male and female attendants, middle Ming Dynasty, 15th.-16th. century.

The figures are matching in torquise and cobalt glazes and stands on large plints. The male figure in this pair was Termo-Luminescence testet by Ralf Kotallas Laboratory and it was made during the Middle Ming period (15th.-16th. cent.). He is holding a teapot.

This very attractive pair of pottery tiles was made during the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). They are made from a dense, quiet highly-fired grey pottery and feature leaves, birds and flower blossoms in high relief. Small bowl of rounded shape, carved decoration of stylized lotus petals outside, with a short footring. Celadon, rather thick ceramic, with traces of light brown colour coming from a long stay underground. China, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Diameter: 5 3/8" (13,5 cm), height: 1 7/8" (4,8 cm). Slight glaze erosion in some areas around the rim, small chips at base, shape slightly warped, otherwise very good condition.

The figure is placed on a large Lotus throne on top of high hexagonal plint, both in fine Sancai colours - a two-colour green and yellow glazed robe.
